This is the master issues list for Twilight Zone. This thread is maintained to aid FarSight in exterminating gameplay bugs, art issues, and sound problems from TZ.

This thread is locked to keep it clean and focused on actual issues, as opposed to opinions about such issues. Report art issues in the Art forum, and all other issues in a new thread in this table's forum. I will add newly-reported issues to this thread at regular intervals. In addition, each bug has a link to the thread it was reported in; discussion of bugs should take place there.

Latest Updates:

15 Mar 2014
  • Reversed slingshot art issue # 19-504 is fixed!
01 Dec 2013

31 Mar 2013
  • Added playfield art issues # 19-510 through # 19-514.
30 Mar 2013
  • Added lack of shadows art issue # 19-509

Status key:
  • New - Issues that are newly reported.
  • Unknown - Issues from a long time ago that have not been followed up in a while so that no one really knows what happened to them.
  • Confirmed / Open - Issues that either I've personally reproduced, that so many people have reported that the existence of the issue is not in doubt, and/or that members have posted a demonstration (like a YouTube clip) of the issue.
  • Acknowledged - Issues that have been acknowledged by FarSight, but for which no fix exists yet.
  • Fix Pending - Issues that have fixed by FarSight, but the fix is in testing or submission process and is not yet available to players.
  • Fixed - Issues that have been resolved by FarSight. Note that not all platforms receive bug fixes at the same time, so an issue that is "Fixed" may still be unresolved on some platforms.
  • Could Not Reproduce - Issues that were reported, but the issue has not been successfully reproduced.
  • Working as Designed - Issues that are bugs or quirks in the actual table, as well as other issues that result from design or licensing constraints.

GAMEPLAY ISSUES:

19-001: Ball gets stuck above gumball machine when it is loaded
First reported: 01 Dec 2012
Description: Loading a ball into the gumball machine (either through player action or as a side effect from other modes, such as completing Lost in the Zone) often causes a ball to get stuck in the wire bend above the gumball machine.
Devices: All
Status: Acknowledged as of 22 Feb 2013
Notes: The table can often free the ball on its own, although this sometimes takes up to 2 minutes. Sometimes a sharp nudge right will free the ball as well.

19-002: Powerball is not detected if it is in the shooter lane after LITZ
First reported: 02 Dec 2012
Description: If the Powerball is the ball in the trough after Lost in the Zone completes, it is not detected as the Powerball.
Devices: PC
Status: Could not reproduce

19-003: Fast shots to Camera sometimes end up in gumball machine
First reported: 02 Dec 2012
Description: Taking a fast shot into the Camera often travels up the gumball machine's exit lane. Since this trips the switch there, the player is not awarded a Camera award if lit, since the table thinks the ball just came out of the gumball machine. In extreme cases, the ball will ghost through the table and actually load the gumball machine from a Camera shot.
Devices: All
Status: Confirmed, open as of 17 Mar 2013

19-004: LITZ Champion score not saved
First reported: 03 Dec 2012
Description: The Lost in the Zone Champion score is not retained after exiting to table select menu.
Devices: All
Status: Working as designed. FarSight is not yet able to save tables' secondary score lists due to integrity checks in the table ROMs.

19-005: Camera view number is incorrect
First reported: 04 Dec 2012
Description: The displayed playfield camera view number is that of the plunger camera view, not the playfield camera view. Cycling through views fixes the issue until the next ball.
Devices: All
Status: Unknown

19-006: Status report freezes regulation multiball restart timer
First reported: 06 Dec 2012
Description: Trapping the remaining ball long enough to reach the status report will stop the multiball restart timer.
Devices: All
Status: Not a bug. The actual table does this as well.

19-007: Right ramp awards Spiral shots during Spiral mode
First reported: 07 Dec 2012
Description: While Spiral is running, shots to the right ramp that feed the bridge diverter will award Spiral shots if the left Spiral magnet is still eligible to do so.
Cause:Bridge diverter throws ball too far back up the left orbit, tripping the switch there.
Devices: All
Status: Unknown

19-008: Ball stuck under flipper as LITZ is ending causes various issues
First reported: 07 Dec 2012
Description: If a ball is stuck under the upper right flipper when Lost in the Zone finishes, the table may not restore player control of the flippers, may lock the camera on the plunger, may remain stuck on the "Player 1 Continue" display, and/or exhibit other weirdness. Alternatively, it may ignore the ball and continue normally, which results in an unearned 2-ball "multiball".
Devices: All
Status: Confirmed, open as of 17 Mar 2013
Notes: The Power audibly counts down the last five seconds of LITZ. To avoid this issue, quickly look at the upper right flipper when the Power says "Two..." and release any ball under it. Avoid using the right flipper during the final second of LITZ.

19-009: Ball vanishes in multiball and leaves table unplayable after other ball drains
First reported: 17 Dec 2012
Description: One ball "disappears" during multiball. After the remaining ball drains, the ROM still thinks one ball is in play. Call Attendant does not help, so the table is unplayable at this point.
Devices: All
Status: Confirmed, open as of 17 Mar 2013

19-010: List of oddities from actual table
First reported: 22 Nov 2012
Description: See linked thread for full details. This is a list of errata/quirks in the real table provided in order to forestall reports on any of them as bugs in the TPA version.
Devices: N/A
Status: Not bugs. The actual table does these things as well.

19-011: Table plays 2 balls at a time after LITZ, player loses a ball each time either ball drains
First reported: 02 Feb 2013
Description: After Lost in the Zone completes, the table launches two balls. After each drain, the table relaunches a new ball, but the player loses a ball in the process. This continues until the player has "lost" all balls he would have had had the table not been relaunching them into play.
Devices: iOS
Status: Unknown

19-012: Wizard Goals not registering on PS3 version
First reported: 09 Feb 2013
Description: Wizard Goals do not register upon fulfilling their conditions in the PS3 version.
Devices: PS3
Status: Could not reproduce

19-013: Camera gets stuck on shooter lane
First reported: 10 Feb 2013
Description: Camera rarely gets stuck on shooter lane. Table can still be played using most zoomed-out plunger camera view. Corrects itself on next ball.
Devices: PS3
Status: Could not reproduce

19-014: Plunger loses strength after a failed plunge
First reported: 30 Nov 2012
Description: After a plunge that falls back into the shooter lane, subsequent plunges have severely reduced strength, to the point where a full plunge won't even make it out of the lane. This corrects itself after a few plunges.
Devices: All
Status: Acknowledged as of 05 Dec 2012
