This is the master issues list for Tales of the Arabian Nights. This thread is maintained to aid FarSight in exterminating gameplay bugs, art issues, and sound problems from TOTAN.

This thread is locked to keep it clean and focused on actual issues, as opposed to opinions about such issues. Report art issues in the Art forum, and all other issues in a new thread in this table's forum. I will add newly-reported issues to this thread at regular intervals. In addition, each bug has a link to the thread it was reported in; discussion of bugs should take place there.

Status key:
  • New - Issues that are newly reported.
  • Unknown - Issues from a long time ago that have not been followed up in a while so that no one really knows what happened to them.
  • Confirmed / Open - Issues that either I've personally reproduced, that so many people have reported that the existence of the issue is not in doubt, and/or that members have posted a demonstration (like a YouTube clip) of the issue.
  • Acknowledged - Issues that have been acknowledged by FarSight, but for which no fix exists yet.
  • Fix Pending - Issues that have fixed by FarSight, but the fix is in testing or submission process and is not yet available to players.
  • Fixed - Issues that have been resolved by FarSight. Note that not all platforms receive bug fixes at the same time, so an issue that is "Fixed" may still be unresolved on some platforms.
  • Could Not Reproduce - Issues that were reported, but the issue has not been successfully reproduced.
  • Working as Designed - Issues that are bugs or quirks in the actual table, as well as other issues that result from design or licensing constraints.


GAMEPLAY ISSUES:

03-001: Attempting to plunge as soon as possible will allow play with two balls
First reported: 20 Apr 2012
Description: Attempting to plunge immediately after the game begins sometimes will place two balls on the playfield, but the flippers will go dead after the first ball drains.

03-002: Plunger strength is inconsistent
First reported: 23 Feb 2012
Description: The plunger is inconsistent, where a small pull may not make it out of the shooter lane (as expected) or may launch the ball at full power.

03-003: Balls clips into shooting star that is already holding a ball
First reported: 25 Apr 2012
Description: A ball traveled into a shooting star that was already holding another ball.
Devices: Mac
Status: Acknowledged
Notes: FarSight has indicated that the fix for this is expected to be difficult.

03-004: The left orbit does not award a letter in H-A-R-E-M at the start of a new ball
First reported: 01 May 2012
Description: Shooting the left orbit immediately after a plunge may not award a H-A-R-E-M letter. Shooting it later works fine.

03-005: Plunger is not available to launch balls into play during Genie Battle
First reported: 30 Apr 2012
Description: On mobile devices, there is no option to launch more balls into play during Genie Battle.

Notes: Use right flipper to launch balls during Genie Battle. Also, this bug may have resurfaced on the Vita; see thread During Genie Battle there's no multiball & plunger doesn't work.

03-006: Weak shots to ramp oscillate several times before dropping through hole
First reported: 03 May 2012
Description: Weak shots to the ramp may lead to the ball rolling back and forth 4 or 5 times before finally falling through the center hole. On a real table, this happens at most twice.

03-007: Balls phase through right flipper
First reported: 19 Apr 2012
Description: Fast-moving balls may travel through the right flipper

03-008: Earning first place in the Great Camel Race does not fulfill related goal
First reported: 27 Jul 2012
Description: Completing the Great Camel Race in first place may not award the related goal

03-009: Camera locks onto plunger during Genie Battle
First reported: 14 Jun 2012
Description: Camera may lock onto plunger during Genie Battle.

03-010: Very hard shots up ramp will exit back wall of playfield
First reported: 06 Aug 2012
Description: Extremely hard shots to the ramp may cause the ball to phase through the back wall of the cabinet. A new ball is served to the plunger if this happens.

03-011: Camera locks onto Genie during Genie Battle
First reported: 01 Sep 2012
Description: When Genie Battle starts, the camera may lock onto the Genie.

Notes: Turning the multiball camera off may avoid this issue. See also Issue # 03-009.

03-012: After resucing the princess, the DMD may display "Player 1 Standby" and play cannot continue
First reported: 26 Aug 2012
Description: After Genie Battle concludes, the DMD may display "Player 1 Standby". This is normal if it only lasts for a second or two. However, the table may sometimes never leave this state.

03-013: Plunging a ball and letting it drain immediately may display "ball locked" animation and play associated sound
First reported: 04 Apr 2012
Description: Immediately draining a ball may play the "ball locked" animation/sound sequences before calculating end-of-ball bonus. It does not actually lock a ball.

03-014: Ball wobbles on magnet when multiball starts and may not actually descend below playfield
First reported: 04 Apr 2012
Description: When starting multiball, the ball may wobble around the magnet and not descend below the playfield. If it doesn't, multiball doesn't start, and the player must strike the Genie again.
Devices: 360
Status: Not a bug. The real table can do this.

03-015: Table often indicates a ball is locked when it is not
First reported: 04 Apr 2012
Description: Barely missing a lock shot may cause the table to report the ball is locked when it hasn't been. The table does keep proper track of the true number of locked balls when this happens.

Status: Bug in real table. (Although the real machine does not do it nearly as often.)

03-016: Ball gets stuck on Genie magnet or under Genie
First reported: 05 Apr 2012
Description: The ball can get stuck on the Genie magnet (presumably by said magnet being active when it shouldn't) or underneath the Genie itself.

03-017: Spelling H-A-R-E-M awards goal but does not actually start Harem Multiball
First reported: 29 Aug 2012
Description: Spelling out H-A-R-E-M did not start Harem Multiball but did award the related goal. Taking a sixth shot at the left orbit awarded the "H" but again did not start Harem Multiball.

03-018: Speedy ball going through the right inlane jumps when reaching right flipper
First reported: 27 Sep 2012
Description: A fast ball will jump as it if caught on something upon reaching the right flipper from the inlane.

03-019: Center lock is not functional
First reported: 04 Nov 2012
Description: The center lock (the one behind the lamp) will not lock a ball when lit.

ART ISSUES:

03-501: Artwork on left side of backbox is reversed
First reported: 12 Apr 2012
Description: The artwork on the left side of the backbox is the mirror image of what it should be.
Devices: All
Status: Fixed (possibly not yet on 360)

03-502: Insert between flippers does not illuminate when an extra ball is earned
First reported: 21 Aug 2012
Description: The indicated insert does not illuminated when an extra ball is earned.
Devices: All
Status: Not a bug. The insert between the flippers only illuminates once Genie Battle is reached. The "Shoot Again" insert is in the right return lane.

03-503: Ball has become a dull grey color
First reported: 12 Aug 2012
Description: The pinball has a dull grey finish instead of a chrome finish.
Devices: PS3
Status: Acknowledged

03-504: Rails are a dull grey color
First reported: 16 Nov 2012
Description: The chrome rails have a dull grey finish instead of a chrome finish.

03-505: Lamp under right slingshot does not illuminate
