I'm guessing that this is a common request, but here's me putting in my vote for it...

Please please consider getting to this mention made in the 2012 post... The Mac version has just gone live...

The workaround is, and I do use, emulation to play this under Steam for Windows, but it really would be great if I didn't have to, for the graphics - and particularly - lighting effects. Thanks for the consideration!

(Admitting in advance this is pure speculation, I wonder how the community would feel in general about skipping a table create cycle or two to upgrade game engines where possible - if engineering cycles is the bind - could a 'season' be extended by a couple months to allow for the promised number of tables per season?)

The Mac version is close to a straight iOS port. There's no key mapping. I don't even think it has an up nudge. Windows on Mac is the way to go.

I just noticed the Windows version DOES allow you to assign keys (huge improvement, not to mention the Windows versions don't look like they're in a room with bright lights on). I still can't find a key to shift into a higher gear for the new High Speed 2: Getaway table, though (needed for the video mode). The Mac version seems to use the spacebar for the camera lock AND the plunger (bad when you start turning the camera lock on by mistake; this defaults to the "V" key in the Windows version). I really have no idea why the key assignments are so poor in the Mac version. It really couldn't be that much bother for them to make it like the Windows version. I really don't know why they even bother with a Mac version if they can't even make the most basic fixes (e.g. the white Powerball in Twilight Zone is MIA when you load the table; you have to change to a custom ball to get it to show up. That problem doesn't exist in the Windows version. I reported that bug YEARS ago and it never got fixed. They clearly don't care about the iOS/Mac version to fix such basic issues. The door panels look weird in TZ on the Mac/iOS version (darker in the corners than when they are unlit which looks BAD when it lights up like it's flipping a tile rather than a light coming on. The Windows version doesn't have that problem either. Most of the tables only look bright due to bad gamma settings, etc. and I"m sure they could be 90% fixed with a few small adjustments, but again, they don't care so I have to agree with k88dad to get the Windows version from Steam and use it if you have Windows installed with Boot Camp. It's a LOT better (and doesn't crash after changing the tables a few times as the Mac version does with regular consistency). I suppose the fact there even is a Mac version is something as Visual Pinball never was made for the Mac, but it would be SO nice if they could just fix the keystrokes and graphics to match the Windows version (with Metal in El Capitain, they could easily do the DX11 effects as well).

I was thinking the same, but I changed my mind. I did try TPA in bootcamp using Windows and the whole experience was not as I expected. So I switched back to Mac OS

- the game on windows is 4x bigger, though the tables are not necessarily 4x better (physics are almost the same)
- in windows its a pain in the ass each time you plug/unplug and external screen; on Mac its cheesecake and always works
- the nudging up/down missing on Mac is true but do you really need it ? nudging left/right is more important

That being said, it's true that on Mac you cant configure buttons, the lights of the tables are too bright, ..etc

But myself I go on using the Mac version, with my pinball device (you can configure EVERYTHING using an IPac) and an external 27" screen in portrait mode.

Happy with that
