No New PS3 Tables Today?

Well, guys, I mean in general...

Come on, compare BK2K PC and PS3. Don't you think that the PS3 version is... yellow?!? (e.g. the rollover in the upper playfield!).

The pink hue is gone.. now welcome to the red hue!

No, I think the difference is very minor, and the difference in lighting is what makes it "yellow-er". Look at the sides and outlanes - it's very clear that there is more "ambient" lighting going on with the PS3 version. To my eyes, this is nothing like the pink saturation we dealt with for years.

Total non-issue to me. They are a little "warmer" on the white spectrum. WAAAAAY better than what we had before. Guess some folks just have to find something to pick on. Tann, I also have no idea where these screenshots are coming from. Looks like you are pulling them from somewhere on the web. Without comparing PC to PS3, on the same system with the same TV/Monitor calibrations and color temps - those shots mean nothing. Most likely, there was a compromise in the color balance on PS3, to remove a lot of the pink. Pink is "cool red" while orange yellow is "warm red". I much prefer the way the tables look now!

Honestly, the only thing bugging me right now about the PS3 version is the horrible Season 1 flashers. Some don't work (CV) while others, are the most ghetto looking flashes I've ever seen. For a fun comparison, take a look at HS or any of the newer S3 tables with red flashers - they look pretty real. Then go fire up Pin*Bot and look at those flashers. Not even close. The older ones from S1 don't even really "light up". They just overlay a terrible smeared yellow reflection all around it. Pin*Bot and those first S1 classics deserve a better treatment than that, IMO.

I have bought "Who Dunnit" and "Junkyard" as I was in the mood for some missions, not pure reaction. They both play great.

For "Junkyard" I had to unlock the camera, otherwise the graphics in the back make my head spin after a while. The table is surely on the easier side but a lot of fun!

What is your take on BK2000?

Great sequel/upgrade, extremely fast and great song/music.Definitely worthwhile and recommended.Keep in mind i own all the TPA tables and enjoy most everyone(yes even the Gottliebs), obviously to varying degrees.Although when it comes to the 4 new tables and particular Steve Ritchie then i definitely prefer High Speed over BK2K.High Speed is an absolute classic table imo.I admire its simple purity, the awesome flow, cool lighting effects, theme and vibe.Junkyard is also great fun and the biggest surprise of the new tables.Great sense of humor, really enjoyable.
Been saving Whodunnit for last and haven't played it yet.I love noir and therefore love Whodunnit's theme. If the rest of the table lives up to that it has a great chance of becoming one of my TPA favs.

"Some folks" have the right to say what they think.
Just as you do.

Never said otherwise. Your point is?

As stated, I personally think it's a bit nit-picky, and we're MILES ahead of where the PS3 platform was pre-SuperPatch. Considering FS's track record when it comes to bug-fixes and going back to older material and updating it, I think we're darn lucky to have gotten the SuperPatch in the first place, and it's a significant upgrade to the game. Nothing is ever going to be perfect, (especially if FS is releasing it!) but this is as good as we've ever had it. We will never see another SuperPatch or probably even any more retro bugfixes, so I guess I just don't see the point in continuing to complain about color balance at this point in time. They've already addressed it, and this is as good as it's going to get. It's WAY better than what we had before, and looks like a nice, warm incandescent glow - which is what a pin should look like, IMO. I get that everyone has different tastes. I feel our concerns and issues *have* been addressed by FS, and we should be quite glad at the effort and time they put into a major upgrade for us that made no money for the company. That's rare. Again, not perfect, but much better than we had.

Sorta like begging your mom for desert, then complaining because it's strawberry cake instead of chocolate ice cream. It's still good, right?

Some fixes weren't included in the Super Patch, but will be in a future patch. It will all work out.

I agree with everything in this post. Nobody has patience anymore.

+1.

For the record, my only major complaints from the PS3 Superpatch were:

- The accidental darkening of TZ. The table was perfectly lit before, now it's totally darkened, and looks terrible, at least in my opinion. When I asked why this happened, they said it was an accident and will be addressed when time permits.

- The red lights on T2 now being dim, for no apparent reason.

- Not starting from scratch on "Black Knight". (Rom emulation, complete art fixes, etc)

Beyond that, just about every other table looks 100x better than before. I was amazed and impressed with what we got.

A little warmer? Did you see how look the color balance on Centaur? Don't tell me this is a black & white playfield since the patch! (for remember, before the patch, and now, look at Centaur on your TV! Nothing's wrong? Or maybe you like the grey & orange, it's your right.)

Guess some folks just have to find something to pick on. Tann, I also have no idea where these screenshots are coming from. Looks like you are pulling them from somewhere on the web. Yeah, you're right (video stream, 720p). I didn't tweak the color balance, only the luminosity levels.

But I did this for S1 tables too. No need to say that's not taken on the same screen, because the red hue just blows at your face on some tables.

Nitpicky? Really?

On some tables, it looks very good (e.g. ToM, CV, MB, Taxi...), on others, it looks awful (e.g. MM, Centaur, Big Shot, ScS...).

And for FS work, I already said that I'm thankful for the superpatch, and the fact they pushed Sony to make it happen. They fixed the lag, they improved the physics, they added sound settings. I won't thank them each time, and as soon as I think something's wrong since the super patch.

IMO, they improved some tables visuals (a lot) but they ruined others . Simple as that. No nitpicky, no whiners.

(By the way, thanks to treat me like a complaining child, very well appreciated... Oh, don't make me dig up some of your posts on the superpatch topic... ;)).

PS: sorry for my english, but it would be easier to explain things in my native language.

EDIT: I'm not the only one: http://digitalpinballfans.com/showthread.php/8475-Graphics-changed-at-some-point-preferred-old-look (but I think ToTAN is ok, though)

Just to complete the post above. Finally played Whodunnit and it is everything i was hoping for.Wonderful noir theme and fun gameplay and ideas.Love this table and it is easily among my TPA alltime favs.Only quibble is that it is on the easy side, a little too easy to find out Whodunnit so to speak. But no biggie.
Season 3 has been absolutely outstanding so far imo! :)

I think overall the mega patch is a good thing as it removed the prevalent bearded man popup bug.

Anyone heard any update on the PSN Summer Sale Farsight mentioned in their last newsletter? They said it would be "in the coming weeks" and that was almost a month ago.

I think I noticed improved sound quality on a few of the tables but that might just be me.

Same feeling here. Maybe it's just me too, but I find that sound quality is much clearer on some tables since the last update. Mainly more bass on tables like ToTAN and CV for example, and the music don't seem to be compressed anymore in 11Khz. :p

I noticed some new sentences too ("Show off!!" on CV, never heard it before...)

The PSN Summer Sale are in August, I guess. We'll see.

There were sound engine changes on all PSN platforms and the PSN Summer Sale starts on August 19th.

Now, when will "Lights, Camera, Action!" and "High Roller Casino" be released for PS3? THAT'S the real question! :)

(And will "The Twilight Zone" and "Terminator 2" ever be brightened back up? They were accidentally darkened from the Super Patch.)

Yep, thanks a lot!

The improved sound quality makes a HUGE difference for immersion. On some tables, with a big bass boost, it's like the pinball table is actually in the room! :p (well, not really, but it brings back many feelings and memories ;) )
