(Forwarded email via friend. Cabinet support will happen. It's halfway to being complete.)

Hello Rick,

So sorry for the long delay in answering this. I am the person you most likely talked to at the Expo. I have been away for a week and did not see this until I returned.

Here is the situation on the Cabinet support. As you know, Paul at Virtuapin has given us a beautiful cabinet to work with and we are actually about halfway through the process.

The schedule we have already set up, one table a month, already takes up a good deal of our time. The other projects we have on our plate (Pinball Construction Kit, Pinball After Dark and the Cabinet Support) all have to be worked on during hours that are not already scheduled for the regular releases of Pinball Arcade. When we got the VP table last year we did not envision having to spend so much time other important projects. The largest of them being Xbox1 and PS4.

The Cabinet version is by no means a dead project. This is something we will release when we can. unfortunately, like last year, we are just not sure when that will be.

But we will... I promise.

Thanks for liking our game and being part of our pinball community,

I don't understand why Farsight are still making these promises, and haven't yet learned from the past two and a half years.
Stop making promises that are unlikely to come good.
Stop making promises full stop, especially with Farsights track record.
It just pi$$es people off when they don't happen.

March 2013 - "Black Knight will be revisited to get Rom emulation."
One among the many...

I hope it happens for you, I really do.

In all honesty if all you want is a backglass there's already options for that. Run it through pinball x, use the program a couple of posts down etc. for me cabinet options mean a proper portrait view (correct focus and ability to set rotation in game), a moveable dmd, ledwiz / arduino support, analogue nudge without using xp adder would also be nice and of course the backglass. Most of this is very simple to implement - it's obviously just not a priority. If it ever happens I'll be stoked - until then I'll just keep playing VP and unit 3d pinball. Also really looking forward to the new Timeshock when it comes out

I put Pinball Arcade down and waited for cabinet support. I pretty much forgot about the game entirely, it's been months since I have played. PA already plays pretty well in my cabinet, but I would only play it by myself, and my cabinet get the most use when I have people over. PA just isnt' good enough to show off to my friends. It's a shame too, because it feels like it is so close.

Actually I still believe in promises, expecially the ones I really look forward to.
It sounded really honest, too.
I am only here since January, so no super negative bias because of
FS history on my side.
Anyway, now it's summer and there are better things to do than play pinball all day. So my hopes are for Sept/ Oct.
And they are working on a pinball construction kit??! Nice. But where have I been when this was announced?

Maybe this thread should be temporarily locked down until the XBOX 1 version is out. We all know that nothing is gonna happen until XB1 and PS4 is up to speed and it's just gonna be more complaints until that time.

How ironic that they mention the PS4 version as being a cause of delays to the cabinet support yet its the sorry state of the PS4 version (the awful sound quality) that first pushed me to switch to the PC version in the first place. Now I find it hard to go back as even though the graphics are nicer, the input lag on my HDTV is so dreadful anyway I end up having to use the monitor.

It also seems odd to claim the XB1/PS4 versions are taking up more time than expected as surely the majority of that work is actually going into the PC version too, as the new lighting engine will become the PC DX11 version.

I guess this boils down to the main problem again, Farsight are not clear enough in their communication.

Perhaps, but it's the moderators' job to tell him that if necessary, not yours.

While this is somewhat of a Designated Complaint Area[SUP]TM[/SUP] for the cabinet people and people are going to kvetch here, keep it civil and free of personal attacks. We'll lock the thread if it becomes more trouble than it's worth.

 Please keep complaining and be pissed off. I am sure you'll feel a whole lot better. My appolgies, couldn't help myself. I am sorry for putting a fork in your happy wheel. And I was not talking about anyone in particular in the above request. No use preaching to the choir, I guess. Please stop me, I am on a roll here.

Carry on, boys. No hard feelings

FarSight's hands have also been full working on the 360 version, a version they had previously said.......they had already worked on.

Yeah, I didn't mean it personal, too. And I wasn't even complaining (this time).
I just don't get why people get upset all the time when a thread drifts off into complaining mode.
If FS is way behind their promises or even expectations they raised, people have all rights to complain.
DCA - I like that.

And FS could turn this easily into a DPA (designated praise area), by releasing the long awaited cab support.

Here, here. Thumbs up.

We all react differently, mpad. In my case, I am really looking forward to cabinet options, I see that there is activity in a thread about it, go have a look in anticipation but
time after time it is anger management control here. I fully understand and are in agreement that some complaining is in order when things drag on, though.

I only reacted because Farsight has told us the truth.... No cab options before the consoles are up to date(it sucks) but nothing much to do about it, it just got a bit to much complaining I felt.

I have nothing at all against anyone here and for the record, I have never complained about anyone to the moderators in all my time here. It's better to say what you feel in the tread and move forward :)
but I was out of order suggesting and temp break. Mods do a good job most of the time deciding things like that.
