    PFX3 Williams Table Sales

This thread has been handy. I’m a sucker for a sale; only reason I own the first two Williams packs. I really dislike the Zen FX3 menu which is putting me off playing these things regardless of the raves (that and the camera angles).

    Williams' Collection Volume 3 guesses

The Champion Pub seems an odd choice given the potential for loads of censorship. I have to say I’m not digging this aspect of the console release (not double dipping on this, unlike TPA), given how petty it is and how TPA wasn’t impacted by it.

iOS - Request TPA no longer available for older devices

I think this is a fact of life with mobile devices, sadly. I’ve had apps I paid for years ago that I really liked or had great utility fall by the wayside because the devs just didn’t keep it up to date or only focus on current hardware. I can’t see a solution other than getting newer kit that...

BlahCade #165 - Data is King

I listen to the podcast on my phone, so anything I can’t see in the iOS podcast app isn’t going to be noticed by me. I do notice the improvement in sound quality, however since you guys both have decent mics now

    Williams Pinball Android Beta

Gotta say, this kind of stuff is why I don’t touch beta software. Unless I’m getting paid to beta test, I prefer to spend my energies on finished games. I also totally agree with Jared’s position on the apparent pricing screw-up: first impressions matter and if your software is going to rely to...

BlahCade #157: A Box of Chiclets

Interesting stuff. Sounds pretty bad for Farsight doing newer Sterns, but I can live with that as long as they do some decent pre-DMD stuff with what they have rights to, . Oh and unless they’ve followed Wrigley’s and only make that rubber stuff that passes for chewing gum, the main thing...

BlahCade #156: Williams Pinball Volume 2: Release Retrospective

I guess it’s down to Farsight to decide if it’s worthwhile to do early Stern SS tables and Gottlieb EMs. I personally wouldn’t care if that’s all that was forthcoming; in fact I’d go so far as to say I’d prefer that to newer Stern tables based on licensed properties. Not that I haven’t enjoyed...

Patch 1.29 NA and 1.30 EU

It’s a rumour coming from the blahcade podcast based upon the fact that someone high up from Stern was in Budapest (location of Zen studio) at the same time as the Zen marketing guy. Unlikely anything would happen for a couple of years as they’re busy with WMS stuff, but Mr. Trap seems to like...

    Farsight must counterattack!

Haha, don’t hold back now! I’m not sold on the new interface and I guess I need to learn the controls, but until there’s something new, the physics don’t wow me enough to bother at the moment. I’m too busy whit Pixeljunk Shooter anyway...

Zen - Colour DMDs would be incredible

Given the ball is still in play, I find them distracting. I get that people like them, but earlier tables managed to let players know what to do without little screens, so I just find them unnecessary.

Patch 1.29 NA and 1.30 EU

They should definitely keep going even if they eventually lose Stern (which feels likely) because they have built a lot of experience that shouldn’t go to waste and there are other pinball companies out there - Atari, anyone? - that haven’t had their day.

Zen - Colour DMDs would be incredible

Ah so someone was effectively demoing both looks then, makes sense. The non-colour versions were also there, adding to the feeling someone was trying to sell these displays. I guess my main issue with colour displays is they’re brighter and therefore even more of a distraction than amber DMDs...

Zen - Colour DMDs would be incredible

I had a chance to play a few machines with colour DMDs in August, including Monster Bash, Scared Stiff and Flintstones; there was also a Shadow on display. Monster Bash and Shadow were decent: had the scanlines and everything, but the other two looked a bit smeary, like up-rezzing a classic...

Patch 1.29 NA and 1.30 EU

Got the pack and they’re pretty decent; Whoa Nellie appeals to my old-timey sensibilities. Given Zen would likely take a couple of years to leverage the Stern licence (not to mention other licensing issues with content holders like CBS/Paramount for Star Trek) and no guarantees we’ll see what’s...

    Official Williams Volume 2 news

That’s likely the only way I’ll get these first two pack. There’s no rush as I still have them on TPA and having done Fish Tales on both I can’t say I’m too fussed with what Zen has done frankly, but then it’s not a table I find terribly interesting. Having it be more “realistic” only makes it...
