This table was originally designed to be a Legend of Zelda table. Then Gottlieb was negotiating a license with American Gladiators and ordered the team to make it an "American Gladiators" table. But the licensing deal fell through, and management ordered the team to relabel it a generic...
My initial impressions: A well-done pack, even though CV was the only one I really wanted to play. Physics feel about the same as the Monsters Pack, which are both much better than the one with Road Show.
CV: Very crisp look. I agree with whoever said there needs to be an option to turn down...
The song confused me when I first bought TPA. Why have the rights to Pinball Wizard the song but not to the Tommy pin? Perhaps a first red flag about Farsight’s business acumen.
I played Ghostbusters in real life last weekend and got the witch scream. Zmcvay was right - OMG is it loud! Everyone around me heard it over their machines and stopped and stared at me and the machine. It was such an awesome moment.
Seeing the “fire button” question for AC/DC and ST:TNG reminded me of a similar issue: what’s the Magna-Save button for Black Knight and World Cup Soccer? I have hit it randomly by mashing the keyboard in a panic to save a ball, but can’t find anything in the keyboard settings.
Agree with Pete. This one is great at starting conversations with Primus fans, but gameplay is non-existent. Usually one ball per game is a guaranteed drain with no chance to use flippers. It’s really more of a novelty than anything else. Fantastic artwork. I’m sure the music is good, too, but...
Played it recently. I’d say it’s among my current favorites. Herman Multiball was my pathway to better scores. Grampa’s Lab can get a little tough with that pea-size pinball. I had beginner’s luck hitting the Marilyn ramp in my first few games. But the more I played the harder it became (what’s...
I played it today for the first time. Had the upper playfield. I enjoyed it. Fast yet controllable. Captured the old school Black Knight “feel” but still original in its own right. It’s like Black Knight captured the kingdom in Medieval Madness and made it dark and gothic. :D
Cidercade is a great place. I was hoping to visit the Texas Pinball Museum in Midlothian about 30 minutes away, it has roughly 40 machines. But the place closed indefinitely earlier this month. A great disappointment, as they had one of only two Big Lebowski pins available for public play in the...
I played KISS today at Cidercade in Dallas. $10 buys you a day pass to a dozen or so pins and the rest of the arcade. When I arrived one of the attendants was working on KISS. I played it as soon as he was done. Very nice pin, great play. One of the best they had. One of the ones I enjoyed the...
Playing Hurricane in single player (not classic) and after a few games the plunger got weak and could not shoot the ball up and around into the big loop around the table for the Hurricane shot. Instead it fizzles out halfway up the right hand side, then comes down the Hurricane ramp. Sometimes...
Get a Big Lebowski pin in it and I’ll come running. ;)
Every successful arcade nowadays seems to keep the doors open by seving alcohol. The Cidercade in Dallas is a good example. Most pins are in good shape.
Pinball Pete’s in Ann Arbor seems to be the exception. It has a great location and...
Yes. The original backglass ripped off the xenomorph from Alien. According to Pinside: “Bally was sued over the game's artwork resemblance to designs by H. R. Giger. In fact, they ended up stopping production of the game early due to pending lawsuits, although 11,400 machines were still...
Amen. Dick Tracy was SO overhyped that summer. The fact that Madonna was in the movie clinched my decision to avoid watching it until it came out on video. ;)
I own two of the Shalhoub Compendiums and can recommend them both. 70-81 is nice and a fairly orderly presentation of the pins. There were a couple of surprising omissions - I want to say Flight 2000 is not in there.
82 - present is my favorite, because this was my era. Shalhoub devotes a lot...
