Debbie Downer alert. They're taking steps to make things right, and I appreciate these efforts.
Nothing about what's gone down is ideal. I think Farsight and Arcooda would be the first to admit that, but we're getting generic cabinet support when I don't think that was in the cards, and it's...
I want to see a way for all third-party apps to interface with Arcooda's hardware. Further, I'd like to see them selling this hardware, because while I'm sure that Arcooda will sell a decent amount of cabinets, this number will probably be dwarfed by home-built cabinets. At least for a while...
Apple just shined a spotlight on pinball today in their Daily List feature, which is great. The featured article is called Pinball Games That Go Full Tilt, and they highlight ten different offerings. Sort of.
In the past, features like this have included the Atomic Pinball Collection, and...
It makes me sad that there hasn’t been post in this sub-forum in almost a year and a half. This collection deserves better than this, and I hope we can see signs of life again from these guys in the future. Their stuff is too good to just fade away into nothingness.
With this in mind, I tried...
Before pulling the trigger on this app, I looked online for information about their changing monetization. I couldn't find anything, and that's because this message is only available as an in-app notice for people who already purchased it. For those who haven't bought in yet, here's what it says:
I don’t know if they got Michael J. Fox onboard, but if that’s not him, that’s a pretty good soundalike. But great scott, the voice for Doc is a little rough.
Also, I didn’t hear any of Silvestri’s music either. That’s too bad. I’d pay more to get all this stuff licensed.
Sent from my...
Also, it's possible to get under par on a lot of these levels. Sometimes, by quite a bit. Here’s what I’ve done so far in the first three level packs:
Dawn pack
Level 22, par 3
Personal best: 2
Melody pack
Level 12, par 3
Personal best: 2
Level 16, par 4
Personal best: 2
Level 17, par 12...
I just finished the three built-in level packs, with gold stars on all the levels where it's possible. There’s a bug in the app, though, that prevents us from getting 100% on the Melody pack. On level 19, the par is incorrectly set to one. They’re aware of the problem.
I’ve played this a little more, and here’s the review that I just left on the App Store:
I love pinball of all sorts. I think I own everything on the App Store that’s even remotely related—the good stuff and the bad, and everything in between. This here is one of the good ones.
From the...
INKS isn't like most pinball games. It's undoubtedly pinball, but it's super artsy. The ball hits and rolls over paint targets, and that changes the color of the ball. When the ball has paint on it, it leaves a trail wherever it rolls, and each time you finish a level by hitting all of the paint...
I’m a huge Nintendo fan, but this is kind of rubbing me the wrong way. Nintendo has a new Kirby game coming out for the Nintendo 3DS called "Kirby: Planet Robobot." Color Monkey better call Saul and get some of that sweet sweet Nintendo money, so they can keep making kickass digital pinball tables.
I just got a newsletter from Legendo:
This is the first time I've seen that an iOS pinball title is being updated for the new Apple TV. I’m not sure if this means that it's going to be a Universal app, or if it's going to be something brand new. But either way, it's nice to hear that we'll...
Chalkboard Pinball Creator was released a few days ago, from old-school developer Pangea Software. The tables are admittedly simple, and there aren't modes or multiballs, but it has some interesting features. It has a multiplayer element, with up to 4 players playing at the same time, and a...
This. You already have a pretty great catalog of tables, from these earlier collections. Would it be too much work to back-port the new engine? I'd love to play some of these older tables with the newer physics that you guys have developed.
And I agree about the general UI. You've made great...
As much as I want this out, like, yesterday, you should definitely hold off. It sounds like they might have a featured spot for you if you wait. That would be amazing.
A couple nights ago, I sent in a tip to Touch Arcade, and surprisingly, they picked it up! They had some pretty nice things to say, too.
Read the article over at Touch Arcade and leave a comment, say something over in their new APC forum thread, and then go and send some tips to your favorite...
