This seems to be fixed. Played a 1.5 hr game of TZ and haven't had a single occurrence of this. Before the patch it was very frequent.
One bug gone, one to add: The background music for "GREED"-mode doesn't play...
Hmm, I wonder how that can be. Decoding a bitstream format into uncompressed PCM should be a digital operation so there's either "do" or "don't" - there can't be "good" or "bad" decoding. The sound is still all digital (be it bitstream or PCM) until it reaches your DAC.

I also tried deleting and re-downloading, but that didn't change a thing for me: stuttering in the first game (AfM). Not that I was expecting anything to change - there's not really a logical connection. Feels more like grasping at straws. Still, it was worth a try.

Honestly, I don't know and would have to look. It's not even remotely close to what I have in this tournament. I'm somewhere in there, but I'm usually not that good at this table to matter and I'm missing the proper incentive to try harder. Which is a funny thing considering the 59 billion score...
