I'd love to know the actual use patterns too.
Zen seems to have staked their ground on new tables (IP licenses, but new tables) that are original programming and don't have to deal with emulation concerns etc. I'd hate to think THAT was the model more likely to succeed, but again, that's...
Just gonna put in a dissonant opinion here because I'm mean and also have just had a strong Martini:
1) I like easy tables. This is recreational.
2) All the latter-day Sterns suck and I'm really not happy that this has to be the focus now because of licensing/availability issues. I guess you...
I don't remember whether the lower playfield in the TPA version is faster than the real machine, which I played a fair bit back in the Jurassic, but the backglass play is EXACTLY as I remember it: nearly impossible to get any decent lift on the ball and good luck getting the Red Hot shot...
Started the newest version (with Banzai Run) and it immediately credited me with the Banzai Run high score achievement (I mean, upon launch, I hadn't played the table yet).
I realize that "if you had the save file issues at any point, everything is suspect, and you're going to keep seeing...
Well, the interesting thing is I played several times while the fiasco was happening and didn't experience the problem or see any weirdness with goals or scores. Very strange.
I launched 1.69.4 for the first time and it suddenly gave me a whole load of goal achievements ... many of which I hadn't earned. I don't synch to cloud so I never had the initial problem. I have a whole bunch of tables that have now moved into Wizard category (e.g. all normal goals complete)...
It's out early (just patched on Steam Wednesday evening about 7:15 Eastern); I guess they don't want to work on the Friday before Christmas. Can't say I blame them :P
Is the "get a skill shot" standard goal on Pistol Poker bugged or am I just misunderstanding the rules? It seems to me like I have gotten one. More than once.
It's a gorgeous table, looks unlike any other in the universe, I like that they tried something interesting and different ... but it's not fun to play. And I say that as someone who likes Central Park :P I have already played about four times the number of games of Wild Card than this.
Playing Class of 1812 in the latest version, when I finished the game the dialog that showed my score was transparent - just the white text, no silver/gray background. After closing that dialog I got a mangled score display ...
After that, going to some of the main menus, all kinds of things...
Heh, I was just coming back from my research as you posted this. What was throwing me off was that Jive Time isn't in TPA, though Farsight had used it in an earlier game.
OK, here's an actual bug ... one of the Spanish Eyes leaf-switch bumpers seems to be missing the elastic or whatever those white bands around the red posts are ... you know what I mean. You can see that it's missing clearly in instruction page 62 (if you're looking at "All instructions") or 16...
Oh, like I've gotten around to reading the instructions yet ... that comes AFTER the "futz around with it for a few games not knowing what I'm doing" part :P
EDIT: Huh, are these the only two Williams EMs we've ever had in TPA? [goes off to research IPDB]
Ball 1 and ball 5 indicators are swapped on Spanish Eyes.
EDIT: No, they're not. Sorry. What actually happens is it counts backwards -- first ball is ball 5, second is ball 4, so on. I don't know if this is a mistake or the actual table worked like that.
Heh. More speculate than whine, despite my dislike of Old Man Stern's policies and his late tables (For the record, this is probably my favorite table of the new/cashgrab Sterns). I don't use the coin-door options anyway but Table Exploration is pretty important to me, especially with a table...
This is kind of a gruesome theme for a table, when you think about it: mermaids attempting to drown people. Also, the Speak'n'Spell "HELP ME" freaks me the heck out. I went to the pinball database and looked at the promo flyer, which was done like a comic book ... there's a whole backstory about...
Nice table visually, lots to do, lots to look at. Too bad about: the ball magnets, the deadly return from the library scoop, the unhittable left and right ramp shots, the unhittable captive ball shot, etc ... basically I can't hit a damned thing in this table reliably and it's a drainmonster...
