PS3 - Bug 2 Player Games Bugged

Playing some two player games with my brother tonight and noticing that if you start a second game after completing the first game, it doesn't let the second player shoot at all, so it's as if there's no second player, but then it actually shows the 2nd player's score as 0 at the end.

I got that a bit playing with my sister.
I know she is running the version that is right before the most recent one so I figured it was that. Bummer to know it's still hanging in there.
