So my family took a trip to Portland ME for a baseball game and because - of course - I had to get some pinball in, they took me to Coast City Comics for about 35 minutes. It wasn't too crowded and there were at least two small groups of people who entered the pinball room. Some of my highlights were as follows:

- Playing Hurricane for the first time in 10 years and scoring the Palace Jackpot
- Playing two machines I haven't played before, Big Guns and Family Guy + doing decently well at them. There needs to be a rulesheet for Big Guns because I could barely understand half of the rules. Kept locking balls in the cannons but they kept coming out.
- Enjoying a round on Dr. Who and destroying Daleks - I have a newfound love of that game now, up there with Party Zone & The Getaway
- Playing Nightmare on Elm Street decently, even without a rulesheet
- Last but not least, playing Spider-Man and scoring 35m. If that game ever pops up in a tourney I am SO THERE!

And that was how my trip went. It was no Pelham but any pinball is good for me. The one major dissapointment was that Tales from the Crypt wasn't turned on, which was a shame because I really wanted to play it. The baseball game, that's a WHOLE 'nother story...

This baseball game, I presume. Yeah, that looks like it might have been fun, in a nerve-wracking kind of way.

I've not played Hurricane since '92 or '93, when it was taken away from the campus bar I frequented and replaced with a TZ. In fact I'd not even seen one again until I went to PinFest in May, and that one was essentially in a total state of deconstruction and most assuredly unplayable. Maybe there'll be one down in York in October, I can dream :)

We also got Dr Who in that bar a bit later, played that a ton, got really good at the timing on the W-H-O combos, before it was replaced with... BSD. Or Frankenstein. I don't remember which came first. Bit of a revolving door, that bar was!

They have a Hurricane at Pinball Parlour down in Earlington. I haven't been down there in a few months and the pins really needed some TLC the last time I was there.

I found it eventually. Still a bit of a schlep from where I am - at least a 2-hour drive, maybe more. There is a dearth of pinball in the Harrisburg area - I know of 4 tables and two of those really need some tlc.
