This september 28th I and a friend will be attending a 2 man team double elimination pinball tournament.
This is supposed to be a LEAUGE showdown but its open to non-league affiliated teams, there is no league where I live currently but I am going to inquire as much as possible to see what it would take to start one in my county.
The email address on the site for registration isnt working but i have the working one.
pbr@drunkentemple.com
I and my teammate have never competed in any type of tourney so our expectations are not high. Our team name is FLIPPIN BIRDS :p
I'll take photos and report back here after its over.

ok heres the list I got 1 week prior to the tournament

As mentioned before, we've doubled the size of the location and EBP is digging into their back-stock of tables! The tentative game-list so far:

Phoenix Games Location
Twilight Zone
Diner
Tales from the Crypt
Championship Pub
Terminator 2
AC/DC
Cactus Canyon
Surf N' Safari
WWF Royal Rumble
Frankenstein
Scared Stiff

Additional Games (growing and evolving daily):
Wizard of Oz LE
Transformers LE
Transporter
Theater of Magic
The Lord of the Rings
The Simpsons Pinball Party
Jurassic Park
Gold Wings
this was the prior week to the PS3 TPA tourney starting and GTAV release on the same day , so I put GTAV on the back burner took 1st on PS3 and focused on the tourney....The showing was bigger than last year from 10 to 20 teams.

We see the photos, now describe what it was like playing 'em all! How was the tourney set up, how many tables did you have to play, etc, etc.

It started with random teams to match up against and it was a best of 3 tables with combined score of team mates determining the winner of the round. The first table was a randomly selected table then the team captains would rock paper scissors and the winner would either choose NEXT table or player position 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. Double elimination so if you lost the first best of 3 you got put in the looser bracket so your next match youd play against another losing team.
My first matches random table was WOZ wich I have never played and it showed with the lowest score of both teams, I won rock paper scissors so I selected next table that was Dinner because my team mate owns it and I figured our opponents wernt into older pins and I was right! We won that table bringing it to 1-1 they chose the next table SIMPSONS PINBALL PARTY another table I haven't played and it showed but we almost had them till they got a multiball random prize and that was all it took. Playing the first few tables my adrenalin was going and it felt awesome but made it hard to play.

Second matches random table SIMPSONS PINBALL PARTY we won rock paper scissors so we chose position 2-4 to get a longer look at the table we just lost on and I got the highest score and won the table. Our opponents chose AC/DC and we lost by 1mill. points so now it was our turn to choose the table and again we picked Dinner and it worked we won and took 2 of 3.

ROUND 3 our random table was T2 we lost the round but they posted personal best scores, they also won rock paper scissors and picked TALES FROM THE CRYPT we won that table and had next pick....yup Dinner! it was our worst game of the day and we lost :( but not by much and we lost on our table so it was bitter sweet. The team we first played made it to the end, the second team we played got knocked out and the second team we lost to lost thier next match. We stayed and played games left over from the tournament, we had to pay to enter the tournament $30 for the team and we had to pay to play the games so if a match ended on a table that had credits or partial credits I'll take it! Hell on our T2 game we got a double match but we moved on to the next table.
I like tourney style play and this was my 1st ever pinball competition, I like how it makes you play the machines were as at pinball shows you spend alot of time walking around looking or waiting for games and no kids playing a 4player game alone just to walk away ball 2 3rd player Grrrrr. Sorry :p
I met alot of new people and seen people I had met at shows or chated with on pinside. I will be going to a private party for volunteers from PAGG 2013 at a well known pin collectors house Oct. 12th he supposedly has over 40 games and everybody says its amazing. TPA needs a 2 man team double elimination match!

Well that's a different kind of format! I like the team aspect, because then you can discuss how to attack a table. In the league tourney, a lot of times people don't wanna give hints as to how to score, go figure. I don't like that you were able to keep going back to a table you'd already played. Can't put my finger on why, but it bugs me. Were there prizes for that $30 entry fee? Can't believe that after paying that, you also had to pay for the tables.

Glad you had a good time. And yeah, that adrenaline can really mess with you. Especially when you are chasing a score and are sooooo close to catching it.

there were cash prizes for 1st 2nd 3rd place and some homemade trophies for other placings. The winning team squared off against eachother for grand master. Yeah paying to play wasnt ideal but I only spent $6 during the tournament and WOZ was $1 a play Dinner was one of the few $.50 tables everything else was $.75. Since there were 2 TAF's they counted as separate tables so you could play twice if that was your thing. Everybody there was pretty friendly with advice, before during and after matches.
