It's just a regular, timed shot at a specific opportunity. After you've summoned a ringmaster, but before you've struck him, just trap a ball and wait for him to pop up for a second to "tease" you. He will pop up for good once you hit him or his spot targets five times. But before then he will occasionally just pop up for a quick second. If you can sink the hole while he's up you get the goal.
