Metallica LE: Thoughts

Playing a Metallica LE.

First of all. Gorgeous pin. Absolutely gorgeous. The artwork, the lights, the color, all top notch.

However. Man is this a frustrating experience. Not because it's that hard, but rather because it just takes so many damn shots to get anything going. The Coffin seems like it's impossible to light. I lock 1 maybe 2 balls after a million shots, but it just takes too many shots to get going. Snake is the same.

I seem to get most Multis via the grace marker. And I do like adding balls and get a lot out of it. Same with Sparky. But it's not clear to me what the rules are or how to get big score going.

Meanwhile they have a mint Getaway and this machine rocks. Great flow, simple to undrstand, and much more enjoyable.

I hope this arcade updates the Metallica code cause I feel with some tweaks it could be awesome. But as it stands a very boring and frustrating experience so far...

I liked it, but there was nothing that hasn't been done before. It just seemed bog standard, box ticking (bash toy, two ramps, bumpers etc). no really creative ideas. I think the version I played was the Pro, mind you.

Inline drop targets are a welcome return, I'll give it that.

Like this game has the potential to be amazing. It just feels so... Incomplete. Why ship a machine this way? Getaway feels finished and amazing, and it's not like it's got this crazy, complicated, super duper deep rule set... It is simple and just works. I can get into a multiball no problems and hit jackpots while I'm still warming up.

And it's not like this is brand new. Games been out for over 6 months. Maybe he doesn't have the newest code installed. Is really like to play this game once it's complete... But as of now I just feel like I'm play of an early alpha version of it :/

Yes I really like the in line drops, and the cross that pops up. But it doesn't save progress so once you drain, you start all over. I kind of like that oldschoolnes, but it is a hit frustrating. Reminds me of the queens chamber in Centaur a little bit.

Pretty sure it's standard for all drop targets to pop up again at the end of a ball. There may be a table or two that disobeys that, but generally that's what happens?

I've been wrong on this forum a lot recently, though.

There's a setting in eight ball deluxe to make it remember which drop targets are down for each player. Can't remember if it's the default or not
