New Star Wars Trilogy?

Do you think Stern or JJ will go after this license? Of course, they'll need to wait until all three are released, but Disney has said they'll release a new SW every year instead of ever three years, with Trilogy installments coming every other year, while the intervening years will have spin-offs (one of which will likely involve Boba Fett and his vendetta against Han Solo following his escape from the Sarlaac Pit). Perhaps these spin-offs could be part of the license? This would especially be a big break for JJ, as they might finally put that LCD screen to good use (it was rather wasted on WOZ, aside from some cool animations involving footage from the film).

I can almost guarantee that either Stern or JJP are going to have this license. I also doubt they'd wait for all of them to be released. Strike while the iron is hot, not when it's cooling down. My guess is Stern will get it, as they have proven they can put out a product on time and in mass. Disney needs assurance, not promises.

Yeah, Disney has a long list of success with Stern. Apparently they did have a difficult time getting authorization to do a 4th run of Tron but mostly due to the machine not having an active movie to promote. While it may never end up on TPA, Disney, and Lucas before them (Of which they probably still have many staff that have continued in their roles since Disney bought them out) have been very much into putting pinball games out as a means of promotion.

And if the rumors are true and Stern has a Muppets machine in production, I can say with certainty that Disney has a lot of trust in Stern.

That being said, there may not be such a machine at all. Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith did not get one, not even a virtual table (although the 3-D CGI Clone Wars TV series did, as did Droids in the loosest possible way).

Stern making an Star Wars table is an inevitability. What is up in the air is how many movies through the new trilogy they will wait before making it. To be honest, they will probably make it during the second film and leave us with an "incomplete" table (Pirates, Dark Knight, Star Trek etc...). It's a minor point, but it annoys me when they do that. Props to JJP for actually waiting for The Hobbit to be completed so they can put out a table that draws from the whole story.

Why would they object to making more of something that's already out there? Plus, don't they have Blu Rays of this to promote? I bought both the original and Legacy on Blu Ray after playing this machine and checking out the source films at the video store and liking them.

It may be that the fourth run was to come out long after the movie had already finished the home video run and Disney wanted to move on.

There are a lot of companies that would "object to making more of something that's already out there." The most common reason is market saturation, which is bad for a company because it means supply has exceeded demand. If sales of the movie on home video has dwindled, it would stand to reason that the pinball machine's sales would dwindle too, and Stern would be left with overstock. (Good for consumers, bad for the business.)

Exactly. Even though Blu-Rays or DVDs are something that can generate long term sales for years and years to come, most of the sales occur in the first few weeks of release. That is the time the promotion is necessary. Any promotion beyond that is not worthwhile to the licenseholder because the product is not fresh so it serves no purpose. The 4th run was mainly done to satisfy the massive demand for the table by the fans that are out there.
