Hi all,

Just an appreciation post because I'm having fun playing TPA :)

As of the release of Red & Ted's Roadshow, we have:
- 41 of the top 100 pins as rated at Pinside as virtual recreations in TPA (july 2015).
- When leaving out the newer Sterns (and WOZ by JJP) beyond 2010, it's actually 41 of 84 possible recreations*, nearly half!
- This includes 4 of the top 4, and 7 of the top 10 (LOTR, AC/DC and IJ '93 are missing).
- When looking at the IPDB top 100, we have 4 of the top 4, and 9 of the top 10 (only IJ '93 missing).
- In total 42 of the top 100 (although it's quite a different list)
- And 42 of 88 possible recreations when leaving out machines beyond 2010.

So I say, hats of to TPA for providing us with a very good selection of the best pinball available!

* only leaving machines out that are currently not possible to emulate (mostly SAM-system). Leaving in tables with supposedly very difficult or impossible to obtain licenses

Agreed, I like appreciation threads. Don't forget you can play anywhere on mobile devices and imagine how much all of these tables would cost to buy at the current going market rate? (Care to fill us in Farsight:) Even if you value each table at $1k which is extremely low, that's over $50k worth of pinball in your pocket!

$10k+ for a Medieval Madness, I believe.

A good condition Cyclone would be $2.5k-$3k (played a really nice one at PinFest this year, was $3k).

Then there are rarities like Goin' Nuts.

Portability is cool :D Shot 600M+ on Ripley's flying over the Atlantic a couple of weeks ago.

Not really sure, I'm not involved in the acquisition at all, but I believe we average somewhere around 4-5k per table after shipping (lot of pins out of the east coast $$). Definitely some pricier ones floating around too like the Eldar said. We just passed our 60 table mark though so that'd be around $300k, all things considered mebbe $350k+? (note: pure speculation) Overall licensing is probably the bigger bummer.

I imagine there's not enough space to keep 'm all after digitizing but the total lineup would be an amazing gameroom! :) Which ones did you keep? And did selling others yield a profit?

They don't sell the tables. Learned that lesson the hard way when they sold off their collection after making PHOF: Williams Collection. Plus Norman would probably scream bloody murder, as he's the one who as acquired all of them. FarSight doesn't have one room where all the tables are, instead there is a conference room that has been taken over, and tables in every nook and cranny they can be fit. It's kind of like a scavenger hunt!

Ok, wow, they should consider opening a gameroom to the public! Ask a reasonable entrance fee and they could recoup on their investment in another way, and make some pinheads happy at the same time!

Don't think I haven't begged them for just that. Problem is that leasing the space, paying utilities, hiring staff, it all pretty much just eats into any profits, and on top of that they'd have to now maintain the machines! One of the guys was really pushing for them to open a 'barcade' as the alcohol pays the rent and the machines would then just be profit, but it didn't get any traction. Gotta remember the population in Big Bear is not exactly large, and it's a tough drive for someone to just go specifically for pinball.
