Earlier today I was thinking that the Oculus Rift may be the ultimate pinball peripheral. For those that don't know about it, it's a head-mounted screen that is used for VR applications. It's not out yet, but the developer version has been released and people are going crazy over it. This thing pulled in a ton of money through Kickstarter, and people are really excited.

Think about it - your table would be in 3D. You can see the table, back glass and dot matrix screen by moving your head. I'm not sure, but maybe it would even be possible to shift your head left or right to see a different perspective of the table. Forget an expensive table that uses multiple monitors and takes up a bunch of room, this would be the ultimate way to play virtual pinball.

That should be possible with Occulus Rift. It would most certainly be great for TPA. And I think it's not even that expensive.

The dev version is $300, and I think they're shooting for less for the retail version. The retail version will have better screens as well.

This looks slightly more impressive than the Nintendo Virtual Boy. :p Just kidding. A gaming podcast I listen to called The Axe Factor has talked about the Oculus at great length. Very interesting.

Yea the oculus is awesome. If Farsight doesn't do it themelves perhaps the community will mod in support themselves for the PC version.

Can you image if FS introduce the virtual arcade frontend again. Walking around a pin hall with the oculus rift on would be immense!!
