I thought a thread with some tips, tricks & links on what to look for and check on when buying a new table would be pretty useful.

-Things to check when looking at used tables.
-How to open them up to check.
-Problems it's best to avoid.
-Good places to shop for tables.
-Good places to find parts.
-An idea of costs for repairs & maintenance.
-Priceguides.
-Instruction manuals.
-Basically any tips, tricks or resources that might be useful.

So for those of you that already own your own, any hard earned knowledge you can share with the rest of us?

Personally I wouldn't buy a table without seeing/playing unless you are absolutely sure you are dealing with someone trustworthy, I.e. recommendations from others.

Moving a machine alone isn't a good idea have a helper but if you MUST and you dont own a pinball mover you can make a square from 2"x4" wood about 22-24" inches high with re-enforcement brackets and use this to prop up th machine to remove and install the legs.
Lookup replacement parts prices and availability.
Keys to open? instruction manuals can be found online be sure to get the wiring schematics with it or you can sometimes find a pdf on IPDB that you can print out.

I would say check if you can find online specific parts (ramps, plastics) before you buy. This in case that you want to restore the machine.
