This was just announced, and given the tie-in to Monster Bash, I thought some of you may be interested in it. Universal has announced "Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection" for release on October 2. This is an 8-disc set, which includes:

Dracula
Frankenstein
The Mummy
The Invisible Man
The Bride of Frankenstein
The Wolf Man (1941)
Phantom of the Opera (1943)
Creature from the Black Lagoon (2D & 3D)

From the era of silent movies through present day, Universal Pictures has been regarded as the home of the monsters. Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection showcases 8 of the most iconic monsters in motion picture history including Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, The Bride of Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, Phantom of the Opera and Creature From the Black Lagoon. Do we have an MSRP for such a collection? On one hand it's the Universial classics and those are usually released fairly cheap , seperately , but bundled all together and cleaned up for HD? One wonders how much , I was a huge monsters fan when I was very young . Thanks for the heads up.

$160 SRP, but it's on Amazon.com for $120. I was just thinking about Creature from the Black Lagoon the other day (for obvious reasons), and how I'd like to see the movie. I'll definitely be picking this up.
