Get a good "flow" going, especially with the warp factor shots (left lane -> "delta" ramp), and memorize the shuttle sequence to guarantee an artifact, and "nudge" away from those outlanes as much as you can, and you can get a very high score. Without a good flow, you run into the infamous Steve Ritchie outlanes quickly.
