They really should specify which platform the beta thingy will be for. Hard to see it being for anything other than Android (maybe PC eventually?) based on how it's been done so far, but they should really specify so people won't just assume they can beta test with any TPA-playing device. There's pretty much no way it could be done on PS3, for instance, is there?

I was thinking the same thing. I imagine it will be primarily done on the PC at some point, and continue on mobile devices, but the consoles would seem to be a longshot unless people bought a dev box.

As a former IT Director whose responsibilities included running QA for several large Internet-related companies, I shiver to hear that FarSight is actually "soliciting bids" for beta testers.

As a former and current beta tester for dozens of programs and apps over the years, I wonder if the general public realizes that beta testing is WORK.

I was going to rant about the strangeness of this situation for a few paragraphs, but out of consideration for everybody (FS included), I won't. :p

Given how short the beta cycles have been for Android this is a little worrying if this is a move toward a closed public beta, especially given the amount of fragmentation in Androids environment.

This could be a recipe for problems if people are donating and expecting that they will be able to beta test for a console platform though, no?

I assume a lot of the kickstarter beta testers just want early access and won't really provide any useful feedback. But the more eyes the better I guess.

I responded to one backer's comment about console beta testing, so hopefully people read it and realize PS3/360 testing is extremely unlikely.

To be honest, the activity level of the current testers, myself included, varies greatly depending on what's going on in their real lives. Sometimes a tester is all over it; other times he is caught up in RL issues and can't test extensively. Nothing against the testers; it's just the nature of a volunteer effort.

Even if only 20% of the new testers took it seriously, there would be some improvement.

AF is out of the question and they would probably have to raise $150k if it were even a possibility, but its kind of a moot point since they already said it won't happen... They've just been teasing with it lately to keep interest up.

Personally I'm a bit burned out on monster macabre pinball (Elvira, Monter Bash, Scared Stiff, Creature from the Black Lagoon).
If they made the stretch goal The Simpsons Pinball (double pack) I would donate a large sum!

I have no doubt this would be funded in record time.

150K for Addams? What the...?

Farsight purposely misleading people knowing they can never get the table rights? Sorry but I doubt that. That would be incredibly ****ed up. I have more faith in their company than that... that's like, downright evil, they wouldn't do something like that.

Not a fan, personally, of either Simpsons board. But I'd still love to see them. Family Guy though is an amazing table.

Very true, totally agree. I also find it difficult to be very useful on a table that I have little (or no) experience on. I spend as much time watching videos as I do testing sometimes.
Some will definitely take it seriously as $400 is a nice chunk of change to toss around.

From what I understand, the difficulty with TAF is getting all the parties to the table, not price. I can't imagine TAF money-wise would be much harder than ST:TNG, which had multiple actors and voice likenesses to deal with.

Exactly. And that's why I'm just shaking my head at the 150K figure. Where on earth is he coming up with that figure?

Also while there is no Farsight conspiracy it would be nice to have some more solid Addams Family news and if it's close to happening, then they need to make that KNOWN in a big way with a kickstarter update.

If they did, it will only be after the end of the T2 Kickstarter, or if they managed to get the pledged amount.

I'm so freaking happy! T2 is becoming a reality. If this momentum keeps up then ladies and gentlemen we will be rocking T2 in August.

Which reminds me, one of the freakin coolest things about this Kickstarter is that we get to play the table immediately in the August pack. That's amazing in it's own right.
