Well, the new backing tier has certainly helped the KS move in the right direction. At least T2 now seems a decent possibility to get funded. I still think they need a specific table to use as a stretch goal...

Adding another table as the stretch goal extends the goal by another ~$50k If this is having trouble reaching it's goals now, how will it reach double it's target numbers?

Do you not remember the numbers from the TZ stretch goal that then led to another KS being needed for STTNG? just adding goals doesn't guarantee money or licenses
we need $43,000 more to do Star Trek: The Next Generation!
That was after raising ~$67,000

Nice job by FS upping the ante in response to community concerns. The grim nature of this thread was getting depressing.

On the plus side, it shows that Farsight are thinking about it and not just leaving it to fend for itself. It looks like they have a nice strategy of bumping it at key points to stop it from having a great start and finish, but a huge lull in the middle.

It's just up until they showed that they were doing it, it looked as though they didn't care, and now it looks like they had it all under control in the first place and we were worrying about nothing.

The point that I was trying to make was if FS specifically named their next licensed table that they were going after, then maybe it would help some with the T2 KS.

This is from the T2 KS info page:

# If we don't reach our goal no credit cards will be charged, but if we raise more then the goal we’ll be able to digitize other licensed tables as well, including the next table we'd really like to pursue- Bally's incredible classic The Addams Family!

TAF might be what they want to do next - but there is nothing in that statement that says that says its the table they're going to do next.

I would much rather (and I'm pretty sure that there are others like minded) have FS name the next table they are trying for...LOTR,Family Guy,Simpsons Pinball Party, etc. That was the only point I was trying to make...

Typical of FS to not think through and thoroughly explain the new beta offer. I feel sorry for someone that isn't part of this forum and backs this tier assuming they can beta test the PS3 platform. Then again, there are currently only 14 backers for this new tier. So maybe most of those people frequent this wonderful site!

I'd consider backing at this level but need more information because $400 is a lot to throw down. Such as, if I chose iOS beta access would it be relegated to a couple of days before release (like Android) once the PC version is in full swing?

Also on Android if you don't want score cutoffs you have to buy the table during the testing phase. If it stayed that way I think there would be a few unhappy backers.

Android is an open Public beta - I really hope this doesn't get closed because - Fragmentation, low testing times and more things

I've been wondering if Android beta would get cut for the past couple of months also.
First indicator was when Pinwiz got himself an ipad to join Sean and Jeff and others on the closed ios beta.
Second indicator being Android development getting less and less time each month with Ryan on other platforms and multi platform feature development. Previous couple of Android beta's have only had 24 hrs each prior to release.

It'll be sad if it does, as quite a few issues caught are Android specific, and this would lead to these bugs slipping into the public release version which would lower already damaged public opinion further.

Hopefully Farsight will see a large market share could be lost or reduced by neglecting Android customers.

Unfortunately, that's not possible because we've got a poll coming up that would help Farsight to judge the popularity of tables in comparison. What would be the point in definitely saying what the next table to kickstart will be if the poll throws up some unexpected favourites which would make better kickstarters.

Didn't they kind of already name it with Adams family?
I don't think it's enough of a sure thing to add a dollar amount but they said they wanted that next.

That upcoming poll is not a official FarSight poll

The Addams Family won't be next unless there's been a breakthrough with the people they're trying to talk to, methinks there'll be another 'name' one before then. The Farsight poll, whilst unofficial would help to work out which name would be the best stopgap one whilst they try to negotiate a deal for TAF. It's a lot easier to go to the guys behind TAF with "We're Farsight and we've worked with X companies to bring tables like Twilight Zone, Star Trek and Terminator 2 to our platform" than without that experience. The more companies they work with, the less chances of being burned by companies who want them to pay an unreasonable amount, or reject them altogether because they believe they're amateurish.

Right now there's a few big name tables that loads of people here want (Simpsons, Rocky&Bullwinkel, Indiana Jones etc.) working out which of them would be the most popular would do wonders for judging their next premium table. I like to believe that they only rushed into Terminator 2 because they were aware that if they didn't sort it NOW then they'd lose the table forever, without that rush they'd probably have stuck it to the back of their queue or waited until the poll results were back before deciding which one to have.

Defiantly seems like the new beta tier has helped no end, who would have thought?....im even thinking of upping my pledge to it. In this case they should defo add another tier to raffle off the real machine once FS has finished it. Maybe a $2500 tier with 2 or 4 spaces????

Regarding the beta test, what platform is it on for current beta testers??

California gambling laws have a fairly narrow criteria for who can run and benefit from raffles. FarSight does not meet that criteria.

the only time i play the tables is during the open beta on android. If that went, I'm not sure I'd be so keen to buy tables. I enjoy the open beta and getting on the leaderboards. I've noticed the lack of beta time compared to 6 months ago..........

Exactly right - the ongoing polls are unofficial.

Yes, I understand that FS will look at the poll results as sort of a "guiding post" for future tables - but that doesn't mean that all of the poll winners will make their way to TPA. All I'm saying is that if FS had said/will say that "XYZ" is definitelygoing to be the next KS table, and not a generic statement of using any extra cash left over from T2 towards future licensed tables. TAF might be the next KS table - or it could be Bugs Bunny's Birthday Ball (as an example).

Put it this way...if FS said that any extra money over what they need to get the T2 license would go towards the AF license, then this KS would probably be completely funded by now,IMO.

They specifically say that is the "next" one they are going to try for.

How about a $1,000 tier where you pick any non licensed table you want digitized and they'll do it. :)

Absolute genius.

This would get me to drop a grand in a heart-beat. Maybe even 2 grand.

I don't think they need this tier though because right now it's kicking ass. Would be good as an "emergency" measure, though. And I can promise I'm not alone; every spot they opened for this tier (let's say 5) would be filled in a matter of hours IMO.

So, yeah. Great, great, fantastic idea, but not sure if it's needed now..

I think that is a great idea if it was along the lines of here is a big list of tables. Donate however much and you get to pick what we add to the game a few packs down the line.

The only way I'd see that working is if with their next kickstarter they added a $10k option with a list of tables, the first person to get that $10k option gets their table made for the pack after the premium kickstarter.

Only one of those options would be available, for too many would impact the regular schedule and lessen the impact of a 'premium' choice. They wouldn't need more than one of those, for the $10k added to the start of the campaign (or there abouts) would cause a huge surge in donations.

Basically it'd be money given to Farsight that they can take off the table costs, not money taken out of their future income like gifting table packs would be.

After we run out of re-releases soon after the T2 table would hit the secondary tables of the packs could be the kick starter choices giving FS the ability to balance each pack with a choice of their own.
