"Amazing First Day!

Coming to a close of our first full day and we are already 33% funded with with over $33,000 raised! If this momentum keeps up, we can introduce some super awesome stretch goals! We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the fans, and are very excited to be on our way to digitizing the amazing Addams Family pinball table. With our strong start, things are looking good, but we aren't there yet! We still have a long way to go, so let's all try to think of creative ways to get this out there!

Help FarSight bring The Addams Family pinball table to game consoles and mobile devices for a whole new generation to enjoy!

FarSight wants to digitize the most popular pinball table of all time! The Addams Family table was released by Williams in 1992 and is unquestionably one of the greatest pinball tables in the history of pinball with over 20,000 units sold (More than any table ever!). It was designed by the legendary Pat Lawlor and Larry DeMar (who also designed Twilight Zone, Banzai Run and Funhouse). This table was integrated more deeply to the movie than any other licensed pinball table of its time. The Addams Family featured the first ever optical target bank (in the bookcase), and the "Thing Flip" which was the first time a pinball tables flippers could be controlled by the tables CPU. When the "Thing Flip" is active the table can actually make shots for you. Another great feature is "The Power" which causes magnets to dramatically effect the direction of the ball on the playfield. It's one of FarSight's favorite tables ever!

FarSight has succeeded in negotiating all of the licenses they need to digitize The Addams Family and bring it to The Pinball Arcade. Unfortunately, there are several licenses involved : in addition to the Williams license, they need a license for The Addams Family, the actor likeness of Raul Julia (Gomez Addams) and Anjelica Huston (Morticia Addams), on the backglass and play field, and the right to use the actor voiceovers during gameplay. When FarSight added up the costs of each required license and calculate what they’d have to charge for the table, they've concluded that The Addams Family is just not commercially viable. The more they charge for the table the fewer people will be able to buy it - and their goal is to expose as many people as possible to this great table, not just a select few.

Here’s where you come in! The licenses FarSight has secured for The Addams Family will cost $101,000 (and that’s just for the licenses - FarSight will cover all of the development expenses themselves). Thanks to the amazing generosity of pinball fans throughout the world, their previous Kickstarter project for the Terminator 2 : Judgement Day pinball table raised $3,360 more than they needed for the Terminator 2 : Judgment Day licenses and they're applying this towards the license costs of The Addams Family. If FarSight can raise the remaining $97,640 they'll be able to digitize the Addams Family and preserve one of the greatest pinball tables of all time. Also, if The Addams Family Kickstarter raises more than the goal, FarSight will be able to digitize other licensed tables as well.

Wii U : FarSight is still planning to release the Wii U version of The Pinball arcade, hopefully Q1 2015. FarSight realizes that Wii U fans are anxious to get their hands on it, but it's not quite ready yet. Xbox One has been their main focus and that hurdle is nearly complete.

Windows 8 : FarSight plans on releasing a version for Windows 8, however the priority of the Windows 8 version is low in comparison to the new consoles that they're currently working on. Features, Additions And Improvements Coming In The Near Future​

DirectX 11 Support For PC : FarSight plans to continue work on DirectX 11 support for the PC version immediately following the release of The Pinball Arcade on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. DirectX 11 will bring the real-time lighting/reflections of the PS4/Xbox One version to the PC Q4 2014.

Dot Matrix Display (DMD) Options : FarSight is looking into adding options to change the filter, size, position and possibly the brightness of the DMD in the future.

Online Head-To-Head : FarSight is in the process of designing a challenge mode within the game to go head to head with a player of your choice. Opponents scores will be displayed on-screen to let you know if you have fallen behind or how much of a lead you have. The concept is still undergoing design, but FarSight guarantees an intense interactive experience to come in The Pinball Arcade.

Online Multiplayer : FarSight plans to add online multiplayer in the near future.

Pinball After Dark : FarSight has announced Pinball After Dark which will be a separate app/game and will feature more mature themed tables that FarSight has previously been unable to bring to The Pinball Arcade because of explicit themes. FarSight hopes to bring Pinball After Dark to every platform and device currently supported by The Pinball Arcade.

Posting Offline High Scores To The Online Leaderboards : FarSight is looking to add the ability to post offline high scores to the online leaderboards the next time you go online in the near future.

ROM Emulation For Currently Scripted Solid State Tables : FarSight is in the process of updating a select few of the currently scripted tables to full ROM emulation which will be included in future updates in late 2014 to early 2015 as they are completed.

Saving Individual Table Preferences : FarSight is looking to add the ability to save table preferences (camera type, camera angle, plunger cam, etc.) on a per table basis in the near future.

Stereoscopic 3D Support For PS4 : FarSight will be adding 3D support for The Pinball Arcade on the PS4 in the near future.

User Adjustable Camera Settings : This feature will include the ability for the user to set the zoom and angle of each table to their preference and is coming in 2014.

User Interface Overhaul : FarSight is currently in the preliminary stages of building a new and improved interface that will greatly improve the user experience. The new interface will feature flexible options to customize the UI to the user’s preference while at the same time offer a quick start option which will allow users to jump right into a table with ease. The new UI is set to hit all supported platforms and devices in 2014.

Virtual Pinball Cabinet Support : FarSight has received their virtual pinball cabinet and preliminary work on the build has already begun. Cap support lands on PC in 2014.

Much sadness on the PS3 release date. Oh well, patience is a virtue. (it has been so far) I am currently #s 4 & 19 on the PS3 Medieval Madness leaderboard and am very anxious to put a hurt on the new ones. I buy very few games but, this one is #1 on my game radar.

Jeff, thanks for keeping this thread up to date since I can't be on the forum 24/7, even though it looks like I already am.

The Android dlc will be launched at the same time (if not before) the ios version. (In fact they are showing off Bride and Madness at the Texas show now on an Android transformer Prime!)

For those who are referencing Xbox LIVE as having a March 28th release date for The Pinball Arcade, I wouldn't read too much into it since they still list Crave Games as the publisher which is false. That information is obviously old and hasn't been updated since it was posted.

The odd thing is that it didn't pop up until after it was released on iOS, if I remember correctly. Telling by posts on facebook, it seems Farsight was trying to shoot for the date, though they haven't confirmed it either.

but Farsight never denied the information and even said the date was likely at one point. I rather just wait to hear from Farsight before jumping the gun.

Thanks for this Jeff...I must have just missed it. By the way, who in their right mind would want to play a pinball game with a guitar? Microsoft, get real...that issue has nothing to do with the game and you know it. Approval within the next 24-48 hrs. is crucial in getting TPA released on March 28th...stay tuned!

I know with the SNES super scope, if you left the adapter for it in when playing non super scope games, it actually caused malfunctions in some games. Stuff like starting on the wrong stage in Super Star Wars. I don't think the issue is playing the game with the guitar, but more with not being able to use the standard controller while the guitar is plugged in. Some like to leave controllers plugged in when not playing a game, so I could see it being an issue.

Or with a small piece of text on the title screen telling you to unplug your guitar controller or the game won't work!
