This is the master issues list for Medieval Madness. This thread is maintained to aid FarSight in exterminating gameplay bugs, art issues, and sound problems from MM.

This thread is locked to keep it clean and focused on actual issues, as opposed to opinions about such issues. Report art issues in the Art forum, and all other issues in a new thread in this table's forum. I will add newly-reported issues to this thread at regular intervals. In addition, each bug has a link to the thread it was reported in; discussion of bugs should take place there.

Status key:
  • New - Issues that are newly reported.
  • Unknown - Issues from a long time ago that have not been followed up in a while so that no one really knows what happened to them.
  • Confirmed / Open - Issues that either I've personally reproduced, that so many people have reported that the existence of the issue is not in doubt, and/or that members have posted a demonstration (like a YouTube clip) of the issue.
  • Acknowledged - Issues that have been acknowledged by FarSight, but for which no fix exists yet.
  • Fix Pending - Issues that have fixed by FarSight, but the fix is in testing or submission process and is not yet available to players.
  • Fixed - Issues that have been resolved by FarSight. Note that not all platforms receive bug fixes at the same time, so an issue that is "Fixed" may still be unresolved on some platforms.
  • Could Not Reproduce - Issues that were reported, but the issue has not been successfully reproduced.
  • Working as Designed - Issues that are bugs or quirks in the actual table, as well as other issues that result from design or licensing constraints.

05-001: Camera remains on plunger after ball is launched
First reported: 10 Apr 2012
Description: Occasionally the camera will remain locked on the plunger after the ball is launched.

05-002: Super skill shot impossible to activate on mobile devices
First reported: 16 Apr 2012
Description: It is not possible to hold the left flipper while plunging to activate the super skill shot.

05-003: Troll bombs can be acquired but not used
First reported: 16 Apr 2012
Description: There is no method to activate troll bombs.

05-004: Draining 2+ balls simultaneously during multiball serves all of them to the plunger at once
First reported: 19 Apr 2012
Description: If 2 or more balls are lost simultaneously while the ball saver is still on, the game may put all of them in the shooter lane at once. Since the plunger is not strong enough to clear multiple balls out of the lane, the player is unable to continue.

05-005: Shots made to Damsel ramp sometimes reject shots that should have succeeded

Description: Solid shots to the Damsel ramp may come back down the ramp as if they were weak shots.

05-006: Shots to castle lock while gate is open sometimes destroys castle instead of lighting/awarding lock

Description: Very hard shots to the lock may instead destroy the castle.
Devices: Android, iOS
Status: Not a bug. On the real machine, extremely fast lock shots sometimes bounce into the castle and trip the switch there. If the gate is open, hitting this switch will destroy the castle.

05-007: High score does not post to leaderboards

Description: Player's scores are not submitted to the online leaderboards.

05-008: Damsel ramp diverter stays open at incorrect times
First reported: 24 Apr 2012
Description: Damsel ramp diverter is open when it shouldn't be, and directs balls into the tower without registering Damsel Saves.

05-009: Ramp rejects balls to center drain instead of to a flipper
First reported: 07 May 2012
Description: The peasant and damsel ramps reject to center drain instead of to flippers.
Devices: All
Status: Could not reproduce
Notes: The plastic guides on the ramps reduce the chance of a center drain, but they were never meant to eliminate the possibility entirely.

05-010: Flippers are too far apart
First reported: 17 Apr 2012
Description: The center gap is wider than it should be.
Devices: All
Status: Fixed
Notes: Even though the gap appeared wider, the collision mesh for the flippers was correctly positioned, so that you could hit balls that looked like they would just graze past the right flipper.

05-011: Ball sometimes catches on transition from bridge metal lip to actual drawbridge

Description: Ball sometimes gets caught on some invisible edge between the drawbridge and the metal lip below the drawbridge.

05-012: Balls do not detect collision properly while in Merlin's saucer
First reported: 24 Jun 2012
Description: If one ball is in Merlin's saucer and another is shot there, the second ball will enter the saucer as if the first is not present.

05-013: Castles from all players count toward "Destroy 2 Castles" goal in a multiplayer game
First reported: 12 Aug 2012
Description: If Player 1 destroys one castle, then Player 2 destroys one castle, the goal will be completed.

05-014: Damsel ramp return sometimes massively accelerates ball through right inlane

Description: Balls returning from the damsel ramp may suddenly power through the inlane without cause.

05-015: Troll bombs are automatically used whenever Trolls!, Royal Madness, Smack-a-Troll! or Battle for the Kingdom is running (Moved to Issue # 00-004)

Description: Troll bombs are automatically used whenever a round that they can be used in starts up.
Devices: Android, iOS

05-016: Shots on gate from left flipper often do not register

Description: Balls shot from the left flipper that collide with the gate often do not register gate hits.

Status: Could not reproduce

05-017: Attract mode camera too close to table
First reported: 19 Jan 2014
Description: The roving camera in attract mode is too low to the table and occasionally clips through some of the table geometry.

ART ISSUES:

05-501: Back side of drawbridge is black
First reported: 07 Apr 2012
Description: The reverse side of the drawbridge (the side facing up when it's open) is black and has no texture.
Devices: Android, iOS
Status: Confirmed, open as of 29 Mar 2013
Notes: On iPad 3, I can see a faint hint of a wood texture. So it may have a texture and just be unusually dark for some reason.

05-502: Flashers behind castle are not functional
First reported: 16 Apr 2012
Description: The two flashers on the back wall behind the castle never fire. Alternatively, the top four flashers may not fire.

05-503: Slingshot posts are invisible when viewed through clear plastic

Description: The slingshot posts are not visible if behind clear plastic.

05-504: Playfield lights are not positioned correctly when viewed from lowest camera angle

Description: The lights shift position as the camera view lowers.

05-505: Dragon blocks view of SWORD-FIGHT rollover lanes

Description: The dragon on the damsel ramp blocks the view of the rollover lanes in some camera angles.

Status: Not a bug. The dragon is positioned that way on the real table as well.

05-506: Super Jets insert never illuminates

Description: The insert for Super Jets (in the right orbit next to the bumpers) never lights.

05-507: Lamp under right slingshot never illuminates

Description: The indicated lamp never lights.

05-508: Jackpot insert for Catapult shot is black instead of red
First reported: 29 Mar 2013
Description: The red jackpot insert on the Catapult shot is covered up by a black object. Only a tiny part at the bottom of the insert is visible.
