This is the master issues list for issues that occur across many or all tables. This thread is maintained to aid FarSight in exterminating gameplay bugs, art issues, and sound problems from the game.

Unlike the other master issues threads, this thread is unlocked because there is no table-specific forum for multiple-table issues (such a thing wouldn't even make sense). Please keep it clean and focused on actual issues, as opposed to opinions about such issues. Posts not following this policy will be summarily deleted.

Status key:
  • New - Issues that are newly reported.
  • Unknown - Issues from a long time ago that have not been followed up in a while so that no one really knows what happened to them.
  • Confirmed / Open - Issues that either I've personally reproduced, that so many people have reported that the existence of the issue is not in doubt, and/or that members have posted a demonstration (like a YouTube clip) of the issue.
  • Acknowledged - Issues that have been acknowledged by FarSight, but for which no fix exists yet.
  • Fix Pending - Issues that have fixed by FarSight, but the fix is in testing or submission process and is not yet available to players.
  • Fixed - Issues that have been resolved by FarSight. Note that not all platforms receive bug fixes at the same time, so an issue that is "Fixed" may still be unresolved on some platforms.
  • Could Not Reproduce - Issues that were reported, but the issue has not been successfully reproduced.
  • Working as Designed - Issues that are bugs or quirks in the actual table, as well as other issues that result from design or licensing constraints.

GAMEPLAY ISSUES:

00-001: Launching any table causes crash 1 sec after camera starts moving in attract mode
First reported: 25 May 2013
Description: Upon launching any table from the selection menu, the table will start up, the camera will start panning the table, but then the app crashes a second or two later. Chance of occurrence is greatly increased if game is updated to v1.2.8 from v1.2.6 or earlier.
Devices: iPad 4 (iOS v6.1.3), iPad 3 (iOS v5.1.1), iPad 2 (iOS v6.1.3), iPad 1 (iOS v5.1.1), iPhone 5 (iOS v6.1.4), iPhone 4S (iOS v6.1.2), iPod Touch 4G (iOS v6.1.2)
TPA Version: iOS v1.2.8
Status: Fixed in iOS v1.2.9
Note: Some users with one of the above combinations of device and OS report no crashing.

00-002: Touch scheme assignment may display differently than actual touch scheme
First reported: 24 May 2013
Description: Tables that have not been played after v1.2.8 is installed may display touch regions on screen and in menu, but actual nudging behavior is that of pre-v1.2.8 versions (top half nudges, bottom half flips, no upward or diagonal nudging).
Devices: iOS
TPA Version: iOS v1.2.8
Status: Acknowledged as of 24 May 2013
Workaround: Go into Table Options and select any touch scheme other than the one currently displayed, then resume play. Then go back into Table Options and select the touch scheme you actually want. You will need to do this once per affected table.

00-003: Diagonal nudges are too strong relative to single-direction nudges
First reported: 04 Jun 2013
Description: The diagonal nudges are about 1.7 times as powerful as a single-direction nudge. This makes them almost too strong to use at all, as even a single isolated diagonal nudge (isolated as in other nudging has not occurred in the recent past) sometimes causes a warning/tilt. The diagonal nudges need to be scaled down to the same strength as the other nudges.
Devices: iOS
TPA Version: iOS v1.2.9
Status: Fixed in iOS v1.2.10.

00-004: "Bombs" are consumed with nudging while applicable modes are running
First reported: 30 May 2012
Description: In Medieval Madness, Monster Bash and Champion Pub, if players acquire Troll Bombs, Monster Bombs, or Smart Punches and then start a mode where such bombs can be used, one bomb is consumed with each nudge in any direction until the player runs out.
Devices: All (iOS)
TPA Version: iOS v2.8.0
Status: Reopened as of 03 Oct 2013
Notes: See also thread Troll bombs sometimes.... Was previously reported as Issue # 05-015. For reports on the resurfacing of this issue, see this post.

00-005: Plunger occasionally exhibits anomalous physics
First reported: 27 Jun 2013
Description: Ball sometimes fails to travel upward when struck by plunger. Alternatively, if the ball is plunged and does not enter the playfield, the ball can sometimes be struck even though it has not fallen back to the plunger yet.
Devices: All
Status: Acknowledged as of 25 Sep 2013.

00-006: Date and time are incorrect on Pro mode tables
First reported: 19 Jul 2013
Description: In tables with Pro modes, the date and/or time displayed by the table is always incorrect, even after you manually correct it.
Devices: All
TPA Versions: iOS v2.6.0, Android v1.16.0.
Status: Fixed

00-007: Special buttons do not work in the "Bottom" position
First reported: 22 Nov 2013
Description: In tables that have special buttons (T2, AFM, etc.), if the special button is in the lowest position, it will not be activated when used.
Devices: iPhone 4 (iOS 7.0.4)
TPA Versions: iOS v2.10.0
Status: Confirmed, open as of 29 Nov 2013
Notes: See also Issue # 00-008.
Workaround: Going into the option menu and cycling through the button positions will cause the button to start working again. This fix must be done for each affected table, and may be undone when TPA is updated.

00-008: Touch scheme reverts to original configuration after TPA update
First reported: 10 Aug 2013
Description: After TPA updates, the touch scheme for each table reverts to the original configuration (without up and diagonal nudging) that TPA had before touch schemes were introduced.
Devices: iPad 3
TPA Versions: iOS v2.7.0+
Status: Confirmed, open as of 10 Aug 2013
Notes: See also Issue # 00-007.
Workaround: Going into the option menu and cycling through the touch schemes will cause the schemes to start working again. This fix must be done for each affected table, and will be undone when TPA is updated.

00-009: Event camera still active despite being disabled in menu
First reported: 25 Nov 2013
Description: Even if Event Camera is turned off in the menu, some tables still exhibit camera moves when special events happen.
Devices: iPad Air (iOS 7.0.4)
TPA Versions: iOS v2.10.0
Status: New
Notes: May be device-specific issue.

00-010: Pressing Back button after entering high score leaves game in unplayable state
First reported: 29 Nov 2013
Description: After entering a high score, the next UI screen has a Back button. Pressing this button dumps the table to attract mode with no UI, leaving the player with no means to continue. Alternatively, the table may return to the high score entry screen, again with no UI and no means to continue.
Devices: PC (Windows 7)
TPA Versions: PC v1.20.4
Status: New

00-011: Hall of Fame points are not calculated correctly
First reported: 27 Aug 2014
Description: On various tables (see linked thread for a list), the game does not award the expected number of HOF points based on the player's score.
Devices: All
TPA Versions: All current
Status: New

ART ISSUES:

00-501: Table name fonts on selection menu are inconsistent
First reported: 01 Aug 2013
Description: The names of the tables on the table selection menu are all in different fonts.
TPA Version: iOS v2.6.0, probably all others as well
Status: Acknowledged as of 25 Sep 2013

00-502: Tables have odd pinkish-orange ambient lighting on PS3
First reported: Ages ago
Description: Tables on the PS3 have very warm ambient lighting, to the point where white objects appear pink, blue objects appear purplish, etc.
Devices: PC, PS3
TPA Version: PS3 v2.14, but older tables have had this issue for a long time. PC v0.018 (beta).
Status: Acknowledged as of 25 Sep 2013

00-503: Ball alpha values are incorrect and lead to odd appearance on PS3
First reported: 23 Jul 2013
Description: In various circumstances (see linked thread for details), the ball can become overly lit or darkened, overly shiny or translucent, acquire various colored halos, and generally look psychedelic. Depending on the specific effects experienced, gameplay can range from interesting to impossible.
Devices: PS3
TPA Versions: PS3 v2.14
Status: To be fixed in a future update (either v2.15 or v2.16...I'm not sure if the fix made the submission cutoff for the next update or not).

00-504: Horizontally-aligned HUDs overlap in portrait mode
First reported: 24 Nov 2013
Description: Tables that have horizontally-aligned HUDs, such as Dr Dude and Elvira and the Party Monsters, the last digit of the left HUD is concealed by the right HUD.
Devices: PC (portrait mode only)
TPA Versions: PC v1.20.4
Status: Confirmed

SOUND ISSUES:

00-601: Attract mode music overlaps Pro mode sound tests
First reported: 24 Jul 2013
Description: The table attract music continues to play while the coin door is open, which interferes with any sound/music tests in the operator's menu.
TPA Version: iOS v1.2.11
Status: Fixed in iOS v2.7.0.

00-602: User interface chimes plays on top of table sounds when entering initials
First reported: Ages ago
Description: When the player is entering his/her initials, the user interface chime plays on top of the table's own sounds.
Devices: All
TPA Version: Since the beginning
Status: Fixed in iOS v2.8.0. Emulated tables that had specific sounds for initial entry will play the table's own sounds; all other tables will continue use the default chime.
