Yep VP from now on. I built my cab for VP and it has improved beyond my dreams in the last 3 years. VP10 is awesome, Unity3D is great, so will stick with those. No more TPA for me sadly.

Well... the podcast was recorded last week, but the answers to the questions were already around since the previous podcast, over a month ago (end of July). So I imagine cab support was "indefinitely suspended" some time mid-late July. FS have had their current cab build at every show they've been to - but didn't have it at ReplayFX, which was end of July/beginning of Aug, if that's telling.

Yeah the interview is like 2 months old and SYT knew it all along, but he didn't tell us to get more listeners.

As much as I appreciate his work with the podcast, I'm a little disappointed of him.
Imo, it's the purpose of a forum to share information immediately.

I know, when he has information about upcoming tables, that he is not allowed to tell us, but this one is different.

How do you know it's different?

I suppose they could have wanted him to wait so that the a few of us cab people would pony up for the season pass before being told that what they wanted was on "indefinite hold". Also could explain why/how the interview was split up. The questions pertaining to cab air after the Getaway was out. It's always about the dollars....

Do you think, BK told him that cab support is on hold, but he has to wait two months to tell us?

Almost definitely. As in "here's the answers, please split them into two parts, and please don't leak any of the answers prior to the release of the podcast or I won't talk to you again". Not necessarily signing an NDA, but a gentleman's agreement, sure.

Either that or the answers really did come in two parts from Bobby.

From what I can gather from a recent email from FS, it seems that CS is still on the cards, it's just not a high priority.

That being the case, I'm wondering if there is anything that could make FS change their view on this and make this a high priority. Just out of interest, Is there any info on here about the number of people who play on each platform? Ie how many people play TPA on PC compared to PS4, iPad etc

Pretty sad the way they've treated the PC community, to be honest. It's no wonder that I don't play this game anymore :(

edit:

...when I say "they" I mean the management...not Mike and the devs, which have always been great.

For me as well. Too bad they missed their chance to be something special in the virtual pinball world.

Reguarding syt keeping information frmo the forum...would this last 1-2 months devalued your pincab? frankly thats absurd and your really attacking the wrong person. If you want more imediate answers you will like whats coming i guess. in my opinoon he knew people would be sore about it but i dobut it was cynical ploy for 5-10 extra listeners, hes not dr evil...or is he!? pose monkey!

Spectulation here, but since tpa already supposts the dmd on the backglass and its own window maybe noex or another user can wrangle a way of splitting that off with his camera mod heres hoping guys.

Yeah syt conspiracy theories are way off.
Also I didn't hear no final no, so cab support is not dead and buried yet.
I keep playing TPA on my cab no matter what.
About "business reasons" theories:
- Mike R. has so much to do, he just can't put any more time into cab support
- pinball manufacturers have senile management that fears v-pins instead of seeing the positive impulse they can bring for their long dead industry
- FS screwed up with publishung their plans for a coin operated v-cab before talking about licensing
- zen was quicker making a deal with stern

Would be funny if they just randomly added cab support now, just to tease everyone!

Serious note, if it's licensing related I'm guessing it's because they don't want people making further money off the licences i.e build a coin operated cab, then charge people to use it without any of the profit going back to the licence holders. That's my theory anyway.

Shouldn't stop unofficial support though, perhaps there would be a loophole around it e.g add cab support but lock out all coin functionality or something

My cab doesn't even have a coin door.
I say nothing speaks against TPA for private cab use. A cab is just an advanced display and control device for v-pin games. The license should work for that.
If someone uses this as a coin operated machine and tries to make money off it discuss it with him/her.
Owning a gun doesn't give you the license to kill.
At least not in Europe.

yep, agreed, first it's for private use. Or did have someone somewhere spottet a commercial coin operated VP cab? Maybe I should take attention next saturday night at the discotheque.

The comments about SYT are best ignored for sure.

It would be good to hear Farsight elaborate on the cab decision. After all after promising it for over 2 years some people has purchased the product based on that info, so if they are going back on a promise people want to know why.

I have not been sitting on this for 2 months. The interview was sent all at once, but the responses were sent to us in 2 parts. I received the 2nd half of the interview 2 days before we recorded the podcast. There has been times in the past where we were asked to not release a podcast until a certain day to coincide with FarSight releasing info into the wild on the same day, but this was not one of them. If I had really been holding onto the info for the purpose of getting listeners, you'd have seen me teasing the hell out of it in this very thread. However, I'm not a dick.

SYT even said in the private podcast forum before recording this episode that he wanted to get this one out ASAP because people had been asking about cab support more lately, so he's the exact opposite of a dick. :)

If you think about it what's the exact opposite of a dick.
Seriously though SYT has a full time job,a family to take care of and then all the time he spends with this forum for our enjoyment. I'd like to say thanks.
