Farsight comes clean on issues with 360 platform

Microsoft won't be able to publish TPA because they're currently publishing Pinball FX and it will be a conflict of interest.

It'd be like EA Sports publishing FIFA '13 and Pro Evolution Soccer '13. They'd be indirectly harming both of their products by competing against each other.

Couldn't you argue Fantasy pinball and Simulated real life tables aren't the same thing and don't conflict each other's interests?

I buy both zen and TPA (if I could) and play both for totally different reasons.

Although that maybe true I am not so sure. Pinball FX is fantasy pinball whereas PA is a Pinball simulation/emulation. It's more like EA publishing FIFA and Super Mario Soccer. I for one wouldn't have tried FX if I hadn't read comments in this forum because the unreality of it didn't appeal at at to me.... but I enjoy it and buy the odd table. VP promotes PA, PA promotes VP, PA promotes FX, etc.

I think I'm gonna be forced to go from being an Xbox 360 TPA fan to a PC TPA fan when it comes out on Steam... Even IF it forces me to respend $25 on tables. :/

Don't think mine would either. The graphics card would do it, but 2xathlon 1.7ghz processor's probably wouldn't do it.
Mike said they only use a single core, but he vaguely mentioned 2.4 being the min.
To be honest, I don't want to play this on my laptop. I wanted to play it on the nice comfy couch with the big screen lcd. I can't afford to buy a ps3, or wait for an ouya. If it can't be fixed on xbox (which I'm hoping it can and will) then I'm out personally.

I think MS might not publish a game that is availabe for other consoles. Exclusivity might be one of their terms as a publisher.

Connect the laptop to the LCD.

Zen is published by MS and available on the ps3 isnt it?

Used to plug laptop into lcd years ago when bbc iplayer first came out, but no hdmi out on laptop, so picture quality is awful.
i don't want to spend on another platform just for TPA again. Thanks for the suggestion though!

VGA should give you a good picture!

It's been several years since I tried it, but I remember it being awful back then, and expectations have only gone up since.
More importantly I don't think the processor is up to the job.
Thirdly, it's a personal decision, but I'm not buying for another platform or buying another platform for TPA.
Hopefully this will soon be sorted and xbox will catch up, then eventually receive dlc in whatever frequency Farsight decide.

Other wise I'm sticking with VP (I'm getting more and more into this)

whichever route fs does go down, i'd suggest they choose the route of least resistance time wise, and not focus on the most profit.
If it's more than a few months away, forget it, the market will have walked away or gone to pc (if it ever gets published).
If they can't make money out of the fastest resolution, then it's probably best they walk away from the fiasco that is the xbox release of tpa.
It's not unrealistic to think the next gen consoles could be out, before this gets a longer taking resolution!
Do not give FS ideas!

Zen Pinball is available for PS3, but Pinball FX isn't. See what they did there? Sneaky.
Not quite true. Pinball FX was XBox only but then they released Zen Pinball for the PS3 with some improvements and unique tables. Next came Pinball FX 2, again XBox only, and the PS3 users got Marvel Pinball a while later. Finally Zen Pinball 2 has been released for the PS3. :)

It's all about business. Pinball is not the right game for a Sony or MS only exclusive release.

No Gord is right! The PBFX name is exclusive to MS. As Zen Pinball has other outlets like Sony, iOS, Android, Nintendo, etc. Marvel Pinball for the PS3 dropped at the same time PBFX2 got Marvel tables. I own every single table on both platforms for both Zen and FarSight. My info came from the community manager over there in the Zen forums (which I'm a regular there).

You're right as well, Scotch and I do agree that pinball shouldn't be exclusive at all on any platform.

Just to clarify. My work PC is a Q6600 CPU which is 2.4ghz. That's not the minimum requirement.

I don't know the min requirement yet cause we don't have any slower hardware to test on. I imagine we'll do a beta then we'll have a good idea what kind of hardware we support.

Right, but they are separate games. There isn't a "Pinball FX" for PS3, it only exists on the 360. If you want Pinball FX, there's only one platform that has it. If you want a pinball game made by Zen then that's a different story.

I thought Zen and FX were pretty much the exact same game. At least that's what I've been told.
