What do you think the Season 3 Stern will be?

Monopoly is great, but that's an expensive license. It's the most popular board game in the world after all.

Are you sure its expensive? There are Monopoly board game themes for just about everything. Seems likes its a pretty obtainable license but I'm just speaking from observation. Not any inside knowledge.

So, when they say Stern, do we know they're not including DE/Sega tables at all? I don't know if FS have the license to use the Sega name in their game at all, because it's still very much a brand (whereas DE obviously isn't).

Let's look at what Stern have released on their Whitestar platform (ie. "modern" Stern), with a little comment on their likely relevance:
Striker Xtreme - Possible, would be easy for FS re: license, may be considered as having "global appeal" (football/soccer). I doubt that appeal exists for this game, though.
Sharkey's Shootout - Another "easy" one, although needs licensing from the female snooker player on the BG. Lacking in the appeal dept., though.
High Roller Casino - Keith Johnson design, doesn't seem to be a bad table. Gambling theme might not be kosher, though.
Austin Powers™ - Bahahaha.
Monopoly™ - Depends on license, but definitely has some appeal there.
NFL - lol nope
Playboy® - lololol no way
RollerCoaster Tycoon - Probably the most likely out of any, license would be cheap and it's a fun, broadly-appealing theme (which could cash in on the Cyclone/Hurricane rollercoaster-themed pins).
The Simpsons Pinball Party - License aside, this'd be a winner for FS. But that license would not be cheap at all (probably Kickstarter-worthy)
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines - If there was a bundle deal with the T2 license, then it's possible. Otherwise, "No way".
The Lord of the Rings - Be a big seller for FS, but license would be a massive killer. Dem actors and film studios.
Elvis - Not enough appeal and license would be expensive as hell.
Grand Prix/NASCAR - Eh, not enough appeal here, either? But Grand Prix could be the cheaper option, with no license to worry about.
The Sopranos - More likely a "Pinball After Dark" machine. Doubtful we'd see it on vanilla TPA, not counting the license.

I'd rather have Seawitch than any of the above, though. I'm putting my money on that being the table.

Elvis uses an impersonator. Might not be nearly as expensive as you think.

I'm with you on Seawitch. Played it a lot in my younger days and have always enjoyed it. My favorite of the classic Sterns.

Hasbro tends to be pretty accomodating with licenses. Partnerships with other companies are Hasbro's bread and butter.

There is a board that scrutinizes any proposal for Elvis merchandise, mainly for quality; only after they give the seal of approval is it allowed to be sold and distributed. They actually reject most things that come in. This process is not only time-consuming, but actually fairly expensive because the board members' sole job is this--Elvis's likeness, or lack thereof, has nothing to do with it.

I think Elvis would actually be one of the hardest 21st-century tables for Farsight to pull off, between this board's fees, the many Elvis songs, and the time needed for approval.

You may be right on Elvis. I was just going on a previous interview with a FS employee (I think it was Bobby King) that said it might be a possibility.

I expect it's high roller casino, for many reasons. It's theme hasn't been really done, it requires no license, and it's an underrepresented designer. Those facts make it a clear choice.

We could def. use a gambling themed table. It's not "WPT", but it'll do.

World Poker Tour is one of those tables that everybody likes to beat up on, though I quite like it. You need some really good aim and some on-the-fly strategic thinking, though I'd guess it'd get monotonous if that was the only pinball machine you played.

I thought it was pretty fun.
