All Williams tables used incandescent bulbs. None used color changing LEDs. I don’t care what you see in a video, that is not proof as lighting can be retrofitted.

Hey man stay cool

I get that bulbs can be easily changed. I'm just saying that I think there may have been coloured overlays on the fish to give them a tint.

I believe TPA had them coloured but we all know that's not gospel. ;)

Someone had highlighted this issue on Twitter the other day so I immediately went to look at the PAPA video and saw they were coloured there too. But like you, I thought it might be a common after market mod.

Did another search and found this.... The original Williams Fish Tales promo video; it is very blurry but you can make out that the fish bulbs (or shades at least) are indeed coloured according to the table art. I hope this is something Zen can get to the bottom of and if required, remedy before release.

Thanks iCub. Glad to hear I'm not going completely crazy (yet!)

Clearest pictures at around the 6:20 and 6:50 mark I think...

Cool nostalgia trip too! :D

It’s not a bulb color, but the plastic insert. A blue, orange, and 2 green inserts look to be used in the video. Keep in mind that this is a promo video and could very well be using a prototype machine. Production run might have used white inserts, but I don’t know. All I’m saying is the only way colored lighting happened on these tables from the factory was with colored inserts, not bulbs.

Exactly. Nobody said anything about coloured bulbs.

I have to say, the fact that we are even getting into this level of detail is testament to the great job Zen have done on these Williams tables so far.

There's this from IPDB.org - it's not illuminated but it sure looks like colored plastics:

Actually I take that back. They look like clear plastics (the same as the "TALE TOLD" inserts on the fishes tails), but with the colored paint designs delineating the "scales" on the fish obscuring the fact that they're regular clear plastics.

Those look like clear inserts, slightly frosted on the top to me to turn the color of the scales.

Anyway they should make the lights colored for the remaster graphics.

I tend to agree. The eye naturally looks at the adjacent color and applies that as a tint to what's underneath. Someone with photoshop skills could isolate just the insert without the scales outline and compare all four to see if that's the case or not.

Cigar ... Still can’t believe it’s being censored ... *sigh*. (Of course, hard to complain too much when the table’s free!)

Talking of the cigar - it's somehow jammed into his moustache/beard. Not even in his mouth. So it's not like he's actually smoking it. Evidently it was lit and presumably being smoked at one time, because there's ashes at the end of it, but... what's he doing with it?!

Some news about censorship from Zen.

Akos:
Hi everyone, got an update for you!

Family Mode will be turned off on PC. You will have the ability to turn Family Mode on in the settings if needed. We will continue to work on this issue now and in the future. For now, artwork will remain altered on Fish Tales with references to alcohol and tobacco being removed.

Thanks for the insight and the feedback on this issue

Mel:
There are still ongoing conversations between Zen and platform holders which may or may not result in changes to our rating. This is as honest as we can be at this time. As things progress, we will keep you updated.

Fish Tales is free for all players. We must absolutely keep the content in line with what our age rating system is. At this time we are not prepared to release a version of Fish Tales without the censored artwork. It is possible this could change in the future, but again, we are going through the necessary steps with platform holders to make sure we would make the changes correctly and in line with what an existing player base would require (notifications, etc.).

Yet one more reason why I love playing on the PC! Thank you guys for addressing this issue and showing a true willingness to explore the matter and not just wash your hands of it. Now I'm excited for the eventuality of Scared Stiff again.

I think you may be right. That’s what I meant by coloured ‘overlay’, and why I didn’t think it was the inserts that were coloured. The overlay tints the light making it look coloured around the clear inserts of the scales.

Obviously this is a deal breaker and means I won’t be buying ;);)

Oh wait, it’s free... ;)

okay buying Scared Stiff when it comes out. :)

honestly the cigar doesn't bother me, but the censored mermaid, if it really exists, does.

But i have found no evidence of censorship on the mermaid. looks the same to me. i think it's just hard to see the belly button at the angle and distance.

That said, they forgot the pipe in the bird's beak. :)

But the navel bit... there's just no reason. bare female navels are seen ALL THE TIME WHILE SWIMMING. and anything "explicit" is already scaled over in the original art.

That has nothing to do with drugs, alcohol, or tobacco.
