Centaur/Pin*Bot Gameplay

ok I see that theres a cut a few seconds before the ball disappears. but the captive ball should never disappear. IT's weird how at the fade the ball appears to be coming from the captive ball, then it disappears when the camera pans. Hmmm

At the beginning of the transition the 'live' ball rolls from the ORBS targets then bounces down towards the left flipper, making it only look like it's the captive ball being released.

Don't know where the captive ball goes though, unless it's a normal part of Centaur gameplay that the captive ball can be released during play? If that is the case, how does it get put back?

Can any real Centaur players explain?

EDIT: i don't know if you meant what i put here or if you watched a camera glitch the way the video was done. do you mean in the queens chamber up in the top left of the playfield. That ball isc NEVER released. The ball in play goes up there and bumps it into the 2x 3x 4x 5x drop targets. there is a power orb / special target in the very back if the captive ball hits the lit special in the TPA version extra ball is awarded. In the acrade it was a replay (depending on DIP switch settings).

If you play the video fullscreen, and tap the screen in sync with the flippers, it's just like the real thing!

I might not even buy these tables!

Weren't the lock shots pretty hard to hit in Pin*Bot? They seemed pretty easy in the video. Might make the table a bit boring (kinda like Bride of Pin*Bot where you just keep shooting the ramp). I really wish they would make tight shots not auto-correct in TPA. Sometimes it feels hard to MISS a shot (like how easy the left ramp is in Creature from the Black Lagoon and Bride, or how easy all the ramps are in Scared Stiff). I've had wild shots that bounce off the walls and somehow have enough momentum (coming from a terrible angle) to get up ramps that should be hard to get up with a somewhat decent shot.

I've played a Pinbot a ton on location, and the eye socket holes aren't terribly hard to hit. That might vary from machine to machine though.

I generally have a lot of difficulty holding on to both balls, since sometimes it'll just spit one sdtm at the start of multiball.

The lock shots? The ones right up the middle? The ones up the middle on a clear playfield? No, those aren't hard to hit.

The lock shots always seemed fairly easy to me. I find the three drops on the left and that darn advance planet target on the right to be much tougher to hit.

Got to play a real Centaur yesterday, really interesting machine and now I have a base to compare to the TPA recreation.

I think I found a glitch. At 1:28 last orbs pin is hit (in order). when another ball is to be shot out, the lights are supposed to all blink in unison, like a warning that another ball is coming.

I just watched the video again and all lights do blink in unison just as the ball is being shot out. If you're referring to the G.I. not flashing, FarSight has not implemented that into any table just yet.

pin*bot lock shots are very easy to hit IRL :)

i realllllllllly hope this version is not as outrageously unfair as the PHOF:Williams Collection version. like 2 out of every 3 balls would drain before reaching the flippers on that jerk table.

keep in mind there are operator settings that result in different levels of difficulty . Also the machine you have access to may and may not have replays enabled . I also do not know how many balls your machine was set for. From what i can see so far the TPA version will be three balls per game factory recommended (i think) settings for a 3 ball game . Since replays are not a value in the virtual world an extra ball is awarded for specials not sure if anything awarded for point thresholds. Another thing is the real life machine you played i have no idea how well it has been maintained it is a 29 - 31 year old machine depending on if it is centaur or centaur 2. To wrap this depending on the above your experience on the real pin VS. the virtual world may be different.
