I should say that of course I know that the post-qualifying rounds in big tourneys are single-game only. But the vast bulk of time in tournaments is for qualifying, and depending on the division and number of players, qualifying is usually the hard part of the tournament (though I personally...
Does your wink mean you're not serious? Anyway, this kind of claim is what I'm talking about. You don't know if it's true or false, and neither does anyone else, unless they've done research and can prove it. I think it's BS. Unless your definition of "common player" is so narrow that it...
You didn't really answer the question. How would the results change? I doubt that they'd change very much, but I'm just guessing.
I hope we don't start placing moral values on the different ways of playing games in tournaments. Some people like to play just one or two games, others like to...
I suppose I'm a glass-almost-full guy when it comes to TPA. New tables on PC have generally been as close to 100% working as I can expect on release, or within a few days in a few cases. If the SPA tables work as well on release as TPA tables do, I'll be very happy. So I want SPA to happen...
Congrats to you and your mom! Good scores, and you beat Voof, which is impressive. Looks like you'd have been in the top 10 in Gold. I'll look forward to competing against you guys in Gold in August.
Here's a copy-paste from the rules...
Speedway Awards cannot be started when Go For The Pole or any
multiball mode is active. When Gasoline Alley is started, a 30 second timer
begins counting down on the Display. The object of the mode is to shoot the
Right Loop 5 times before the...
This is IMO the worst bug on PC, and worse than all the other bugs combined. But they've said they can't fix it, so we seem to be stuck with it.:confused: I've had it happen dozens of times, the last (and worst?) being a game of TZ that was #11 (81B) and that I'd been playing for six...
But... after starting any timed mode except Go for the Pole and Quick Pit (I think; the other timed modes are Dueling Drivers, Gasoline Alley, and Wrong Turn), you can immediately light and start the next mode, right? So what's the point of letting a mode time out, except maybe Go for the Pole?
I dunno, this seems pretty accurate for the pre-merger Bally era. Many of these tables have their fans of course. I haven't played many of them much (thankfully, Williams ruled my town when I was a teen), but Escape from the Lost World was (probably) my favorite machine in 1988.
What Kolchak said, but here's a little more. The hint is usually solved VERY quickly, so the hint talk happens for only about an hour after people start getting the email with the hint. That email comes out usually within a day or two of a table release. The next table release, Table Pack 52...
I played the first two a lot when they were new and Bad Cats a few years later. I thought Jokerz was very dull even in 1988, but maybe it was just that I had such a hard time hitting the center target to raise the ramp. That was a very long time ago :). In any case, I think Jokerz is one of...
FWIW, I can't predict how much I'll like a table in TPA based on how much I liked the real thing. I know it's a good shot I'll love a Williams/WMS table, like a Sega/DE one, and dislike a Premier one. That's about it. I never would've guessed that I'd love Dr. Dude, Phantom of the Opera, or...
My best bonus is 1731M. Are the rules for Bonus in the game incomplete? They mention 10k per lap, 50k per position under 33, this times Bonus X, plus Dueling Drivers, Caution, and Wrong Turn. It doesn't seem possible to get anywhere near 1731M with that. The position bonus should max at 32 *...
I was just being silly... NBA Fastbreak is a WMS DMD and thus would be a good addition. But it's not all that great a table. I'd rank the remaining WMS DMD's as follows:
All-time classics: Shadow, Corvette, World Cup Soccer, Indiana Jones
Still great: Demolition Man, Johnny Mnemonic
Probably...
From http://www.pinball-magazine.com/?page_id=34 :
Silver Castle Pinball: Another new startup company, based in The Netherlands like Dutch Pinball, it is planning to build a physical version of Pro Pinball’s Timeshock! In 1997 this game was one of four PC pinball simulations developed by Pro...
Do you think you're using "exploit-fest" quite a bit too loosely? Wouldn't about two-thirds of all tables be exploit-fests by this criterion? Especially when you have to play the entire table to get the mode a second time?
