You are spot on Viking, when the strength of your game becomes your ability to "nudge" a ball headed straight down the middle into a MLB curveball to a flipper, while innovative, it pretty much destroys the credibility of the game, the score and the player. In spite of what the rankings show, I...
Amen to that. When "nudging" ability reaches a point where a player can turn a straight drain into a curve ball to a flipper it defies the physics of pinball itself. It's not pinball anymore or even a sport, it just becomes a joke. Put a player that scores well with this method on a real...
I discovered this same strategy early on. It's a safe, brainless method for high scores and there's no shortage of folk immersing themselves in it as the high scores reflect. Too bad there's not a separate high score list for anyone who doesn't want to participate in this lunacy.
Agreed. There's skill and then there's skill along with stamina, initiative, and the desire to grind through hours of boredom. For me anyway, when playing pinball loses its entertainment value it no longer becomes fun to play. I can never bring myself to launch into those multi-ball...
If I'm reading Itchy's post from 11/10 correctly, Dizzer accomplished these scores in one day. Even assuming the smallest amount of sleep in a 24 hour period, taking into consideration the amount of time just to get a general "feel" for any given table and the amount of time required simply to...
After hours of trying, I was finally able to get this last wizard goal and even got it up to 6X. The best/easiest way to accomplish it, is to exclusively try for it and nothing else (i.e. no game play). Ideally, you want to start a ball with 2 of the 3 lanes already lit on your second or third...
I give Farsight the highest marks for pinball recreation, however, they sure seem to miss the boat when it comes to the wizard table goals. For me anyways attaining the wizard goals pretty much ends the game's true "entertainment" value. I simply refuse to get caught up in the high score...
I totally agree. I've been playing pinball for over forty years and the whole "leader board" thing is kind of a sham. Some of the tables offered, I've played but have no desire to purchase at all or invest anytime into. I did decide to grind it out on Funhouse once and did have the high score...
So if I score over 3M (which I finally have), I'm one of only 68 who have ever accomplished this? So back to the original question, why is the "global achievement" % so high shown in Steam? It's just plain wrong, who knows, they're idiots, wizard goals were changed?
Anyone know what the deal is here. As I was attempting to score 3M on Genie (again) to attain the Wizard Goal, I became somewhat puzzled over TPA's statistical information. How is it that global achievements in Steam show that 7.8% are Genie Wizards, yet the leaderboard shows only 66 out of...
Wow, I'm almost 56. I feel like the Yoda of the Forum. Gather round guys and let me tell you what it was like back in the day when a dime got you 1 play and 3 for a quarter. Ran into a few ball self-loaders early on. Bumped into Rick Stetta at a tourney (Wild West Pinball Fest) here in...
