In-engine playback actually takes totally ridiculous amounts of space. The only way you can get around this is if you have the engine simply record player actions and replay the game based on that. The problem with this is that pinball isn't entirely deterministic. There are (semi-)random rolls...
What I meant is I'm fairly sure there's no simple way to make the engine record play efficiently if it hasn't been built that way from the start. I'm not an expert on the subject, but I've heard that from several games that people wanted similar things implemented on.
You'll start seeing a lot more gameplay videos/streaming once the PC version hits I think. Most people don't have the equipment to make videos off consoles etc. I don't think making it a part of the game itself is very feasible.
The thing is though, most of the geometry bugs don't involve locks. The ball just vanishes from play. In some cases yes, locks bug out too; rarely on black knight, and quite often on black hole, but those are individual incidents. Clocking some surface hard and the ball just vanishing is much...
The geometry bugs where the ball flies off the table at random spots, or in some cases predetermined spots, are still present on most tables. My personal guess is that in most cases this has something to do with the ball going so fast it exits the geometry between physics frame calculations, or...
The game is nothing like a real pinball machine. Forcing no pauses won't prevent the grind-fests, it'll just make people miserable while playing and make them take their breaks during after lock/after ball plunges. I don't think think FS should implement stuff that doesn't really make it more...
Fair enough, but that's a function of Farsight making the game easier partly intentionally and partly due to the more deterministic fashion in which the program works. The proposal can't really fix that.
I agree with the no extra balls and tournament mode. However, I don't think one and done is a fair system either. Someone else already suggested this somewhere, but have the system set up so you can play through the bank as many times as you want, but you have to go through the entire bank and...
The FS facebook thing says it's to generate rankings. I assume for future tournament type seedings maybe or something? I think FS would have mentioned if there was anything else at stake, but your guess is as good as mine.
I'm honestly way too excited about doing well in the tournament so far. I have no illusions of finishing top or anything since I know there are people who are vastly better than me, but don't have the kind of time I do to put in total scores so far. It's still really nice to know I can at least...
I don't see any exploity caliber TotAN scores in the tournament leaderboard so far. Are you sure it's in the ROM version TPA uses? I can't recall what the exploit is, but it doesn't seem like people are doing it so far.
TotAN is kind of unique among the tables in TPA in that it is almost impossible to get full control on no matter how hard you practice. Almost every important shot on the table has a return that is either totally random or lethal. I kind of hated it for a long time for that reason, but it does...
Possibly because Black Hole is the only table in the tournament where it's kind of trivial to go infinite on extra balls if they're enabled, and at that point it just becomes a contest of who can go the longest. I'm really glad they did that.
e: That said I would have preferred it if they...
9,150,020 on RBION. The sad part is I got to multiball AND had 2x scoring on that first ball. Considering that it's a really really bad score. Oh well.
I used to have the #1 score on the ps3 on this table, with a few mobile scores above me on the list. My top score is still the same but my total placing is around #6700 with mobile and osx scores in the several billions taking up the top thousands slots. Maybe you should take a look at the high...
