Addams may well have been the next evolution of modes, with the light up jewels, but even Whirlwind had special lights on the backbox that changed certain scoring parameters. An even later evolution to modes would be mode stacking, and now we have branching modes.
What's funny is Zen beat the MCU to the punch with a lot of their tables choices, but then there was no point in making a movie tie-in table. World War Hulk is essentially Thor: Ragnarok, Infinity Gauntlet = Infinity Wars, but as someone who only watches the movies, the comic based storylines...
I don't know if it's just a wild rumor or if there's some truth in this, but I have heard that DC won't do business with a company that does Marvel, and vice versa. LEGO is viewed as kind of a wonder in that they get to do both licenses, but that shows the power or their brand. Traveller's Tales...
So you know gang, no new podcast this week. Jared and I had scheduling issues. Good news is what little we had to talk about this week will just roll into next, which in the past has meant having a full show of pinball to talk about!
I have it on good authority we haven't seen the last of Super League. Fingers crossed, yeah?
Good call on pirates, that's a really rich theme to dig into. Racing, I guess I was lumping V12 into that and more just thinking 'cars'. Disasters, I agree, but that's pretty much a Pat Lawlor trope...
I don't know anything about Zen's licensing agreement for Star Wars, but there is this to consider; they might have to show an active use of the license or risk losing it. Think about Fox and Sony with their respective Marvel licenses for X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Spiderman. The reason for the...
Banzai Run works, I think. It doesn't have a variety of modes, but there's no denying the vertical playfield is a completely different mode from regular play, and you certainly have to work to light it. Pinbot though, that's tricky indeed. If with each lit planet you gained some sort of scoring...
I still say neither of those are ‘mission’ based machines but ‘progression’ based. We all know what a true mode is, so work backwards from there rather than try and shoehorn in a table.
I wish the show was more about the builds and less about the ‘personalities’, but I do think they turn out nice vehicles. They’re not always my style or flavor, but so what? I’m sure seeing the showroom, the paint up close, is a lot better than the glimpses on TV.
I just watched it for the first time in a long time about a month ago. The story structure is a bit wonky, but it's aged fairly well for the most part. Like there's no stupid future tech that stands out like a sore thumb today. It uses the full of it's widescreen, so try and avoid the HBO...
Yeah, I had never really paid much attention to the game as I didn't have any interest in the tables. On top of that, at the time I wasn't really impressed with the UI and it all felt clunky. So suddenly getting some tables and checking it out, how far it's come since I last looked at it...
That song in Lost Boys is actually a cover of the song originally done by The Call. I had stumbled across it, not really is was the original version, and highly disappointed there was no sax in it!
There actually is an amusing divorce settlement between them. He gave her 'Strange Days', which he had been developing and was close to making himself. He handed over everything, from script to storyboards.
I don't know, Zen's Aliens table is pretty damn good and at least has the full voice of the cast. But yes, please do JJP so I can play Dialed In to my heart's content.
