Yep, you got my drift. Change 20 years to 15 years.
You might be right about licenses, but Stern seems to think you need a license to sell a pin. Wish they didn't always lean on a license. Unlicensed themes give a great opportunity for the designer to really be creative.
Centaur better art and sound. 8BD slightly better rules. Both very good layouts. Hmm
Today I vote for 8BD by a hair. Ask me tomorrow you might get a different answer.
I agree, 90's pins are the most popular according to modern era, online only polls, with a small amount of participants - many of which own the pins and have a vested interest in their resale value. Somehow many of those 90's pins are much more popular now than when they were in the 1990's...
Almost forgot about that one. Sure was super popular. Would you rather have the classic Bally Kiss or the modern Stern Kiss?
I know people bash it, but I might prefer the modern version.
Many folks find pins from the 90's to be the pinnacle in pinball design. Nobody's opinion is wrong when it comes to their favorites. My two favorite pins are Addams Family and AC/DC, but my favorite pin era is from around 1975 to about 1985. Played them a lot as a kid and enjoy the rules and...
Depends on how you define golden age.
Pinball machine models by decade per IPDB
1950's 495
1960's 518
1970's 840
1980's 518
1990's 220
I agree that pins from the 1990's are the most popular with people playing TPA today. But golden age of pinball, not to me.
I totally agree with you. I assume newer pins probably sell better and that's why we see more of them. We can't forget that FS is a business. But I love when we see an older classic like 8BD. For me, they seem to have more replay value. I never tire of them.
Lots of very good Bally pins left to recreate. Flash Gordon was a great one. Here are a bunch more classics.
Wizard!
Evel Knievel
Capt Fantastic
Mata Hari
Playboy
Paragon
Embryon
Fathom
Medusa
Tales From The Crypt for me as well. The audio gets a bit annoying after a bit of playing, but I love the dark humor of the theme, art, DMD animations, and the 6 ball multiball. It's just fun to play IMO.
Just a fear of them falling or getting hurt. Not sure why though. Doesn't bother me in other sports (except maybe figure skating).
When I was in college I would sometimes visit a friend up at Penn State. He was friends with some guys and gals from the PSU gymnastics teams. We would get our...
