The means to inject scores into the FS leaderboards is pretty rudimentary, and all you need to know is the table id. You don't need to own the table. So yeah it's do-able. If they are genuine scores, then, well, that individual has made a rod for their back that ain't getting removed any time...
Indeed. And I do believe that the Shatner line in WoK has nothing to do with Spock, either. Isn't it after they discover the wreck of the Genesis project and everyone there is dead, including Carol Marcus?
Actually, in Star Trek: Into Darkness, it is a Spock line, except last I check, Zach Quinto is still alive. Plus, that whole movie was such a bad pastiche of Wrath Of Khan and that scene was so totally telegraphed from such a long way out, it's not even in the same galaxy, let alone ballpark....
It's just as easy to put it back as it is to remove it. Eventually FS stopped bothering removing the bad scores, because they kept being put back up almost right away.
Because there's no difference in the actual playfield, you can plug a SCE ROM into a regular TAF and it'll work just fine.
This is indeed what FS bought.
Of course getting hold of regular ROMs isn't difficult, I'm sure copies have been made and there will be ROMs ripped from dead tables over...
I've had a couple of EBs (Golden Pinball).
All the "extra" stuff feels tacked on though... the animations just don't fit in quite right.
One nice thing is that the scoreboard can handle 10-digit scores correctly, so you can see the billions digit :D
See, it's scores like 44B on ES, and 4 trillion(!) on MM and and 360M(!) on El Dorado and EXACTLY 250M(!!) on FP that really smell bad....
Even 28B on TAF by anyone not named Tarek or Mark Miwurdz (primarily XONE player so his scores don't show up in the general population) is in my mind almost...
Accurate plunging is a crapshoot on any platform. Whether it's using a keyboard, my X360 controller on PC, or my finger on my Android tablet. Some games you can easily find a "sweet spot" (e.g. Earthshaker - 100Ks are easy to repeat), others, it's pretty random.
That said - the TAF plunger...
See my sig: I'd rather have Hurricane. My first played-the-heck-out-of-it table, because it was where I hung out during my first year of Uni. (That location saw a pretty good run of tables: Hurricane, Dr Who, TZ, BSD, MSF, probably others I don't recall.)
