I agree with it being messy, but what if by releasing a separate app, in addition to releasing it in TPA, they were able to eliminate having to do kickstarters? Not saying this is what would happen, just throwing out a theory. Because I for one think anything they can do to eliminate crowd...
So I have never been able to get anything going on this table. Purely from a scoring standpoint, what are the 2 or 3 shots to master? For instance, I know getting the rollover on the left inlane is both important and tough. Is there a trick? Should I be more into catching and shooting as opposed...
We were playing Cactus Canyon Continued in my league tourney yesterday. So the bonus maxes out at 5x (!) and hitting the gold mine is soooo much tougher because the ball refuses to go in unless the mine has raised up some, unlike in TPA. Scoring is much more balanced, but none of us in my group...
Oh, I hear you. There were times when the alignment of how I got continents was just perfect. I'd start Europe, immediately light and start South America, and then get NA, Africa, or Antarctica. I could swear one time I even had Asia in that mix, but my memory might be playing tricks as I don't...
Sorry for the delay in announcing this week's table, which is Pin*Bot. Was busy watching the skies explode with fireworks last night.
So yeah, Pin*Bot. We are now 2 out of 3 for this series of tables. Be very interesting to read people's comments on how to maximize scoring while avoiding the...
I voted for random variety. There's pros and cons to each of the suggested.
Not having played in a tourney in well over a year, playing the PC tourney has brought up a few things that ultimately soured me on playing TPA at all for a while. The first is the hacker/troll scores. I truly despise...
Holy crap. That score on Ripleys just completely demoralized me. Wow. Guess I'll do something else now!
I completely suck at shooting big foot. It the one shot on the table I have no feel for, so I always ignore North America. Guess I should learn how to put that one in my arsenal.
Yesterday I was doing everything in my power to bump Montana_Frank and PAF SUX off from #1 and 2 on RBION. So tough. You pretty much need 3 continent tours, all of them 2x multiplied, with some of the modes done while having 2x running too. The really tricky part is not activating Atlantis in...
UPDATE
Last night I went through and compiled everyone's questions so far into a document. I then reworded, morphed, and massaged the questions so that we can hope to get the best answers possible. It's quite long as it stands now, and more than enough for Bobby to answer.
With that in mind...
I'm not saying you guys are wrong, far from it, but maybe starting a fresh post about how to promote The Pinball Arcade if it were up to you would be better than having the discussion get lost in this thread.
It's a lot better than the unlimited time was though. I remember seeing some of the AFM and Scared Stiff scores and just giving up before even really trying because there was just no point. I knew it took those people 3+ hours of playing, and I had no desire (or ability) to play that long.
Agreed. There are only a handful of EMs that people actually know by name. Fireball is such a no brainer, or Captain Fantastic, even Nip It. They also have more than one trick to them and rules that are common sense to modern players. People can argue all they want that Big Shot is pure pinball...
Right? Or is it just that the table is soul crushing? The minute I get my last 2 wizards (250,000 and the bonus) is the minute this table collects dust again for me.
What can I say...RBION is the only table I have an actual strategy on! Cactus Canyon is just how long can I keep a ball in play to get the biggest multiplier I can, and TZ is just trying to get LitZ going (which I finally did). I'm notoriously horrible at Space Shuttle, and then there's all...
Before I even read the press release I thought, hope they shrink the pinball at some point. And then waddya know, it says as much in the press release. Some things are just too obvious to not do.
Oh, okay. I just assumed they were starting from scratch on the PC. I was in gold on PSN the first few, but then I never played again. Obviously I dropped off then!
I've gotten much better at condensing rules down to their essentials after having to explain my own!
