A picture taken a few feet away with a camera flash will certainly be brighter. However, pinball tables have historically been played in dim arcades and bars, accentuating the lighting effects of the playfield. In a static comparison, the brighter image may look more appealing because you're...
I don't know where this "more than half" Snow Leopard figure is coming from, but Net Applications shows Lion with the majority of the Mac install base. Among Macs that can actually run Pinball Arcade, I'd expect the number to be even higher. Adoption rates on Apple platforms are typically...
The Mac version appears to be using the iOS version's lighting still, but the Level of Detail option seems to offer more detailed textures (just look at Black Hole with it on). The Post Processing option gives mixed results, darkening tables like Bride of Pinbot while desaturating to an absurd...
Bought the DLC a third time for the Mac today. It's getting obsessive, but I had originally planned to have them only on iOS and OS X, and I couldn't resist checking out the PS3 version's lighting and gamepad controls. Yeah, that's the reason, yup.
I am now able to log in after installing the new update (I get asked to post high scores to Facebook). However, the button still says "Login" on the menu, which initially made me think the login was unsuccessful.
There's always a contingent of users that gripes when you raise a system requirement. However, raising it in this case should have been expected, because only OS X Lion supports in-app purchases, and Pinball Arcade is focused on DLC.
When I try to log in, the screen goes black with the "Connecting with Facebook" alert, then it goes back to the menu which still shows a "Login" button. I don't believe I've ever successfully logged in to Facebook with the Mac version.
BoP may not have the best scoring system for use in a tournament, but in terms of being a fun pinball table in a social setting, landing a billionaire shot is pretty satisfying.
This happened to me yesterday on the iOS version. The ringmaster was raised, and the ball hit the back side of the hole and was quickly flung to the right.
Presumably, platform-agnostic issues like the sizing of interface elements, the lack of a Quit button, and other console elements that don't quite fit well on the desktop will be addressed for both Mac and PC eventually. Additionally, there are a few Mac-specific features Farsight might consider...
I'm sure it's the change in perspective affecting your perception of the physics. Portrait mode lets you see more of the table vertically, so the ball looks like it's moving more quickly.
I'm a member of the Apple developer program, and I'm pretty sure Apple would never give out that kind of personal user information. In fact, that would be a major privacy violation. Developers don't get access to anything beyond anonymous sales and download charts.
The paid and free versions of...
The most 70s pinball table I've seen is Future Spa. I desperately want to play it. What do you say, Farsight? Delay Twilight Zone so we can all enjoy some Future Spa...
