You can tell in advance when it's not going to work as the the alpha numeric displays in the backbox remain blank. Looks like the rom doesn't load or crashes. The app has frozen too once, whilst entering high score initials in EBD.

The next press of the 'download owned tables' downloaded all 64 tables despite them already being downloaded. Subsequent presses of the same button now say 'tx sector downloaded' again. Pressing 'update all' says all tables up to date now.
