    Real Tables (cont.)

I finally made it out to the Pastimes in Niles (Girard?), Ohio. A large establishment, with a lot of machines. They had a really good cross section of 50/60's, 70's, 80/90s, and a few more recent machines. They had a lot of banners along the wall with information about genre defining games...

    Why Centreal Park?

Got the VPX running on my AtGames machine and one thing became apparent, Central Park sucks. There are a huge number of era tables back then that were less on automatic than Central Park. Is there a reason why they went with Central Park?

    Most maddening Retro Tables

The Retro tables are sieves. Games aren't supposed to last long and while the tables don't play themselves as much as say Central Park, there is a decent amount of luck involved in good scores. I'd love to see a histogram of the Top Ten scores lists with all of their scores. I have found there...

    Machine guns?

Via the At Games table I’ve noticed the faux Indy Car on the front has guns. Guns on Indy Cars are not all too common. In fact one could argue that there has never been mounted weaponry on any Indy Car (or F1). Did Victory have some other plot in mind and they forgot to scrub the guns?

Lucky Star... I mean Lucky Fruit

I was playing the Lucky Fruit table on the AtGames LP and noticed an oddity. The instructions are blurred (if it is even text) and a blurry title on top of it reads Lucky Star, instead of Lucky Fruit. I was curious about why that was. Didn't know whether Lucky Star might have been the direction...

Devil's Rider Remake Way Too Forgiving

I have been playing a few of the remakes recently. I like the legitimate look and literal remake of the table as a real table with a similar theme. Was playing Devil's Rider (simulation mode), however, and the table is just too forgiving. Just playing the table for the first time (I typically...

    Party Zone

So when I played Party Zone on Zen, I was rather surprised. I played the PS3 version of TPA’s effort and felt it look cartoonish and really never got into it. The graphics in the Xen release, in my opinion, makes the TPA version almost look like it belongs to a Wii release of the table. I...

Medieval Madness - verses the real thing

I was able to get to a place with Medieval Madness and was exceptionally impressed with how the Pinball FX3 port really had me tuned into the ramps for the real table. I remember playing that pin after having been used to the TPA version and the timing was completely different in real life with...

    Champions Pub - Right outlane

When playing Champions Pub, there seem to be a couple tiny rubber posts that can catch the ball and save it from draining in the right outlane. I don't recall this being in TPA. Am I crazy and forgetting it? I've only played Champions Pub a couple of games in real life and don't remember what...

    Jolly Joker

The new place near me has expanded their pinball selection. They've done a good job of getting a good cross section from JJ's Wizard of Oz to Williams' Jolly Joker. I don't think I've seen Jolly Joker before, it is an early 60's game and has a Central Park feel to it... as in the pinball...

Alright, I'll say it... I like Genie

Genie is a wide body pinball table, with a consensus of having annoying sound effects (though I don't particularly find them annoying) and isn't well loved. I was somewhat neutral about the table a while ago, and played the real thing one day last summer, and liked it. The wide body gives a...

    Wizard Goals?!

So I finally finished the Standard Goals with Firepower, the 550k was quite elusive. So I look at the Wizard Goals... Looks like three are almost required to be able to get to 550k to get out of the Standard Goals in the first place! Seems silly to have Wizard Goals that need to be...

    The Threshold of Tedious

I was curious about different pinball tables and the point where playing become tedious. And I'm talking about playing, not grinding with trapping all the time. I was playing Scared Stiff and broke to about 133 million, which was about 90 million better than my previous high score...

Shaking the table - is it really helping that much?

I was playing pinball next to a guy who apparently thought that shaking his table (Eight Ball Deluxe) to point that my table was moving was helping him. His scores weren't all too good. He seemed to shake the table when it was on the bumpers up top for some reason. I can understand nudging...

    First place in a tournament!

Yeah, it was because I was one of only two people registered as having played yet, and I played on two tables, the other on one. But seeing I'll never have a 100 ranking on a table again, might as well soak it up. :D Did set a PR for aliens killed in Attack from Mars (nothing like Total...

    Challenges

Are there only four or five sets of Challenges in TPA?

Music in game - from somewhere else?

There is a portion of the music in this game that I swear I've heard elsewhere and I want to say it was for a video game, maybe a PC video game. This is driving me nuts, as I can't place where I've heard the riff before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkMpFN-W8dQ The first ten seconds.

    Is Season 4 worth getting?

I like my pinball (use PS3). I currently have seasons 1 to 3, but have been balking for a bit over Season 4. It is only $30, so it shouldn't be that hard to jump, but I keep getting second thoughts. I looked over the tables and noticed I don't play the Season 3 tables much at all. I like...

    Challenges and High Scores

For the life of me, I can't understand why high scores under challenges aren't applied to the game overall. It is annoying that the Tournament scores don't apply either, but at least that has a time limit so I can partly understand that. I've had some of my best games either via Challenge or...

    Inactive/weak upper flipper

One thing I've noticed in a number of tables on the PS3 (I have not played the other systems), the upper flipper does not flip as reliably as the main lower flippers. Is this a bug, am I not hitting the button hard enough, something else? It is really a pain at times. Many of the tables...
