Hi

I am enjoying playing the ps3 tables in stereoscopic 3d.

can I do the same with the pc version? I have nvidia 3d vision and NVidia 3d play. Ideally I'd like to play with 3d play on my plasma. I get really bad ghosting/crosstalk with the ps3 tables on my 3d tv (Samsung ps51e6500 plasma) - is the pc version better? I also have tridef 3d too.

thanks

Yeah, TPA will work with 3dplay with the normal caveats involving HDMI: 1080p/24 or 720p/60. If you try and play TPA at 24fps, it slows down the game and inputs (making it unplayable). As to the crosstalk issue, that's usually a result of a bright screen and room coupled with glasses that aren't completely opaque (none are). So, any cross talk you're getting will probably still be an issue with the pc version. I've had good luck with less crosstalk using after market 3d shutter glasses, perhaps poke around for some on amazon?

On my passive 3D display using Tridef3D I can play in 1080p/60, with minimal crosstalk. Where your eyes focus the image will converge to show the combined 1080p image. PA actually works better in 3D than PFX2.

HDMI supports 1080p/60 3D just fine. It's the same as 4K (@ 30fps) in the end. There is no 4K support for 3D though. Good 3D displays had 240Hz refresh to accomodate this.

Not that it matters, since that's Frame Packed format (full resolution). PS3 and Xbox360 only support Side-by-Side or Top-Bottom 3D, which takes the same amount of bandwidth as 1080p60. These are half-resolution formats because you lose either half the horizontal or vertical resolution to display 3D. This is also the same 3D they broadcast on TV because the bandwidth is the same as a regular broadcast.

nVidia 3D is full res 3D, like frame packed 3D.

Odd since hdmi doesn't support 1080p/60 in 3d... Also, no tvs support this refresh...

With passive 3D the odd and even lines of the 1080p image contain the left and right eye images, your eyes combined recreate the 1080p image. That's how it can run 60fps in 1080p 3D.

FALSE FALSE FALSE.

HDMI 1.4b adds support for 1080p60 3D (Frame-Packed), aka "120Hz". 1.4/1.4a keep it at 1080p30 or 1080p24 for Frame-Packed mode. Not that it matters since PS3 and others only support HDMI 1.3, relying on side-by-side or top/bottom mode to do 3D. (Or line-interleaved, if you use 1080i). Nothing really new bandwidth-wise, it's just another supported resolution.

HDMI 2.0 increases bandwidth so you can do 3840x2160 @ 60fps. HDMI 1.4b only supports 3840x2160 @ 30fps (consumer 4K), or 4096x2160 @ 24fps (cinema 4K).

Yes, I have to actually deal with HDMI at work (both handling 1080p input including 3D, and handling 4K output).

Are there many displays available now that support the 1.4b standard?

I think my 2011 LG 3DTV does so that would suggest yes. Trouble is I have been unable to test the theory as annoyingly my GTX 660 appears to be HDMI 1.4a. :(

Then again, the TV has such awful input lag its usually unplayable for pinball, although Zen Pinball 2 seemed playable on PS4 so perhaps its okay.

That confuses me even more though as pretty sure Zen Pinball 2 only supports 720p. Is the PS4 limited to HDMI 1.4a too? That's utterly stupid if so.
