UPDATE Added the following bugs to my master bugs list :

Harley-Davidson Third Edition

• DMD occasionally skips frames during video mode.

All Tables

• When you press the "home" key while in the middle of a game, the pop bumper lights are off when you return to the game and only relight when a trigger in the game that lights the pop bumpers is activated. This also happens if you pause the game before pressing the "home" key.

This is probably related to the "multiball issue" that has already been fixed, but I have been getting multiple balls served in the plunger lane on nearly all tables I've played since updating. It has occured rather randomly when plunging. EDIT: Okay, it definitely only happens during multiball but it really creates some odd situations! On TotAN I just landed a bazar shot during multiball and that immediately served another ball to the plunger lane, enabling 4 balls at once... [END EDIT] If I manage to make the plunge for one of the balls in the lane (with the other(s) bouncing back to the plunger) then the camera stays in the plunger view and the right flipper is unresponsive, while the left one can be activated.

Also, the mirror in ToM is black rather than silver and will no longer show (reflect) the rollover lights.

yeah some code was introduced that was triggering the trough switch incorrectly.

well, it's good to know that this has already been fixed =) Any news on when you'll be able to upload a fixed beta, Ryan?

Thanks for all the hard work! Taxi truly ROCKS - just managed to get the highest score... Yay! =)

While I understand you can't divulge what happens during the STERN approval process, it still doesn't stop me from being *very* curious about these unreported issues that aren't bugs ;)

Let's just wait and see what the final build looks like.

I was having a discussion about HDMI portrait orientation support for TPA with CrazyCoder ([Serge] on IRC).

What would be the likelihood of this being included as a fix in a future build, Ryan?

http://digitalpinballfans.com/showt...it-mode-on-external-display?p=10234#post10234

There could be some commercial advantages to doing this, because it would bring external monitor functionality in-line with Zen Pinball. And that certainly wouldn't be a bad thing. ;)

Any chance of a new build yet? I can't use the Google Play version as the updated tables crash the application.

I keep a back up of table data, and goals/scores data, before loading in the beta .apk.
The files are located at...
TABLE DATA = /MNT/SDCARD/ANDROID/DATA/COM.FARSIGHT.ANDROIDPINBALL.JAVAPROJECT/FILES/...
SAVE DATA = /DATA/DATA/COM.FARSIGHT.ANDROIDPINBALL.JAVAPROJECT/FILES/SAVED_DATA

I flashed back to 1.4.2 couple of days ago.
Can't wait to try Taxi, hoping next beta is less choppy for older devices (fingers crossed, miracles gratefully accepted!) :)

We are trying to get as many of the issues found fixed as possible and we are still finding issues, but hopefully soon! =)

@Carl if you uninstall it will remove the new tables and the google play version will download the proper file.

Ok, i made a pretty thorough profiling run and found some areas that helped performance on taxi, and fortunately the fix should help all tables with the old style hud. Depending on how gpu bound your device that is. Again depending on the device you may also see a slight performance improvement on the dmd tables as well.

The hdmi orientation works for zen because they are always drawing in portrait and just rotating their render screen on rotate, but due to design decisions made early on this would be quite a big change for our rending system. You may notice that in zen when you are in landscape mode the android alerts, in app purchasing, etc will be the wrong orientation. Management decided against this early on unfortunately though we may look back into this if we have time.

We have made other fixes as well which I will list when the next beta build is provided.

You are right, zen's solution has its drawbacks, like status bar shown on the left instead of on the bottom when you play portrait (good for HDMI, bad when playing on device screen).

Perfect solution would be to combine both approaches, use native Android rotation all the time except when plugged to HDMI display and user wants portrait mode, in this case rotate canvas inside the app ignoring the native Android rotation. I'm not sure how hard it would be to implement, depends on your graphics engine, I guess, but it should not be that hard.

Don't know if this has already been found...(don't play in Landscape much).

Start TPA with phone held in Portrait orientation so you are at the screen where table selection is made.

Turn phone 90deg clockwise so earpiece is on right and mike is on left of phone as you are holding it.
Screen display of app will adapt and rotate to look correct for new orientation.

Press 'start' to pick any table.
Press 'start' to start game.

Game goes to plunger view but orientation is upside down now.
This was in app ver 1.4.2 (not beta).

yeah im not sure what to do about that one, i "lock" the orientation (which also doesnt work all the time for some reason) but some devices have a native portrait and LS orientation that it switches to upon lock.
