Anyone else experience a "dead" flipper button press?

Has anyone else been experiencing this? I'll be playing a good game of pinball and all of a sudden I'll press, usually the left flipper and rarely the right, and the screen doesn't recognize the flip and I lose my ball ruining my game. This has been occurring in TPA, zen pinball, and I tried pinball collection and it occurred also. I don't know what the cause of this is, maybe recently implemented apple iOS software? Am I the only one?

I'm using an iPad mini and everything is in perfect working order otherwise.

If it's happening on more than one app, it's got to be the hardware. Try playing in a different orientation to see if the problem follows.

As fungi said, your circumstances indicate a failure on a larger scope than just TPA. This could either be a bug in the iOS firmware or a problem with your touchscreen controllers or a problem with some other part of the hardware.

Didn't Kevlar mention a long time back that he'd worn the coating of his iPad through where he's been flipping like crazy and having similar issues?

I really doubt that having the oleophobic screen coating wear off your screen would be causing screen errors. Otherwise, Apple would be getting a ton of returns since the coating can wear off pretty quick with heavy use.

I just switched on 'do not disturb' and everything went smooth from there on... Both iPad mini 6.1.3 and ipd3 iOS 7

User error? Next time it happens, make sure your fingers haven't drifted onto the bezel. I catch myself doing this occasionally.

UPDATE: mine started like this and got worse (at first i thought it was me hitting the bezel). Soon other APPS started acting up and games would start pausing themselves and cam setting would change in game by themselves. it turns out it was hardware failure (touch screen controllers most likely) . Went to apple store under warranty and got new hardware today.

Hmm, I get this from time to time on android too and it's always the left flipper that is affected.

Try flipping the tablet over to see if it's still the left flipper. If not, it's gotta be the hardware.

I'll try that. Have a bunch of dead pixels on the Nexus so it might be time for an upgrade anyway.

I experienced this! I thought maybe my screen was dirty! After cleaning the screen and fidgeting around it seemed to be ok.

Honestly this could be a new problem, I just don't play the game nearly as much as I used to. Like, at all basically. So I can't say. But it was the first time I ever experienced such an issue, and I've played with super dirty screens many times.

I thought I should post in here to let everyone know that turning on do not disturb did fix the problem with my iPad mini. I have since moved on to a retina and loving it! Happy flipping these holidays pinballers!

I used to think I had that issue but it went away when I became more consciously mindful of my hand positioning. I think my fingers were drifting out of the designated regions.

This is exactly what happened with my iPad. I'd be playing a great game, and my flipper would just drop! Just as I'm about to throw the unit across the room, I would see my thumb on the black border. Totally my fault.

I saw this issue happen in Monster Bash today, but with the right flipper.

Brand new iPad Air (picked up right before Christmas)... I really doubt the hardware is defective... it's been fine for several weeks.

This is after I changed the flipper config to Configuration E and made the zones visible. The flipper would just go dead intermittently, even when staring right at the flipper zone and pushing it. I know my finger was in the correct place.

Has been reported as a bug.
