Anyone else notice "Failsight" on the leaderboards?

...and this is why I'm only concerned about beating my own score. Yes, I've played in the tournaments, but I've no illusions about winning. I look forward to TPA's release of the head-to-head ability. But I wish there was some way to keep the boards honest.

People cheat at everything now. The latest: My coworker cheats at FITBIT. Yes, Fitbit. Apparently theres a leaderboard and every else cheats too. I heard the guy at the top of the leaderboard puts his on a paint shaker.

I'm not sure if Tarek is human.... Just kidding, but his scores are sometimes awe-inspiring. I always think he's named after some Star Trek character, probably a Romulan general or something. That would go with his scoring.....

See, it's scores like 44B on ES, and 4 trillion(!) on MM and and 360M(!) on El Dorado and EXACTLY 250M(!!) on FP that really smell bad....

Even 28B on TAF by anyone not named Tarek or Mark Miwurdz (primarily XONE player so his scores don't show up in the general population) is in my mind almost suspect.

But then there are some that could well be genuine.

Which makes no sense, but also makes a ton of sense, since it's clear from every interaction I've seen that this person is clearly a fan of video pins, and has a lot of time on their hands, so is probably actually quite good.

I listened to the Pinball Bar Cave podcast (the pilot) where he talks about Firepower in The Pinball Arcade and does not even question the scored from amongst others Failsaight who has and even 250 something. Tarek having something like 9 mill.

It would be interesting calculating how long it would take getting the highest score in Firepower if one plays just about perfect.

Just shows that more leaderboards and especially a new tournament mode with it's own leaderboards would be nice to have.

It's just as easy to put it back as it is to remove it. Eventually FS stopped bothering removing the bad scores, because they kept being put back up almost right away.

I for one put my faith in Invitro's montly "an attempt at the top 40 TPA players" thread in which he actively deals with suspicious scores. I don't buy the "ethical hackers mentality" thing of getting Farsight to clean up their act, I just think he's an obnoxious troll. What is really sad is that any valid score by Failsight and/or the fact that he may have real skills will be distrusted automatically. I don't get what he gets out of this, especially if his behaviour points in the direction of caring for video pinball, even if it's done in a fundamentally negative way.
