I saw on an Arcooda Facebook post from around 8 hours ago that Arcooda has posted a new YouTube video of a Kinect being used on their cabinet. Caption is, "Setting up 3D game play in Arcooda Pinball Arcade software is easy, just change the settings in the menu using the touch screen, and you are ready to go. 76 games are supported." When someone asked, "which version of the cabinet is this showing, 4K or HD” , Arcooda replied with, “its running HD only, the 4K software is still in development.”

SilverBalls I have the same graphics card as you , and there are some days it slows down in play , but most of the time it`s great. listening to Spacie it sounds you need some decree to setup these VP Tables , I`m hopeless on my laptop , that`s why I prefer my consoles . I bought an Ultra Custom Cab 2in 1 cab , it cost $2,740 au it`s very simple . no dmx or changing back glass ,about700 tables and 12,000 retro games all preset and I won`t connect it to the internet , just leave it as it is . it has 64 TPA tables , 54 ZEN FX2 tables , 54 ZEN FXR tables , 110 VP tables and about 500 FUTURE PINBALL tables . the reason I got it , is the price . I couldn`t afford much more . I know it`s very basic but I wanted to be able to play my pinball on a table . it arrives in about 5 weeks .

That sounds pretty good. It is true the VP thing isn't as straightforward as a Steam game of course, and it helps to be a bit handy with computers. I know the all-in-one installer installs VP, VPinmame, Backglass Server, etc. so the only things that need adding are tables and ROMs.

In all, a pretty nice video and I was happy that he pointed out that with the VPX tables there is the issue that the ROM/table licenses are not paid for. It has also been my experience that VPX requires much more hardware than TPA.

Yes he gives a nice balanced view. I was pleased to hear him say he still buys the tables in TPA as he is keen to support people who promote pinball.

On my cab performance is much better in DX11 "Fullscreen" mode.

It is so odd how the various settings are performing differently for different people.

SilverBalls I think Spacie did say some of the things that wasn`t quite right for him , might be due to the way he set up his VP Table I`m just waiting for a big night and morning watching the World Cup !!! Australia vs Denmark , France vs Peru & Argentina vs Croatia WOOHOO !!!Peru have something like 40,00 fans in Russia UNREAL !!!! we only have 12,000 over there . I think this is best games so far on one day

That video was very fair in its assessment. He lays out very well the risks people are taking when buying these products sight unseen with no trial and no refunds. All the risk is on the buyer. The product may never work and the company selling it doesn't have to make it work. He seems to snicker at anyone that would go for that deal at the prices being asked. Yet many (including me) did. *sigh*

Arcooda reorganized their web presence so that now there is a site just for the Virtual Pinball machines, here. The information and organization is improved.

Question: Can someone confirm that the small glossy panel above the back glass on the Ultra model is about accommodating a Kinect unit? It is not included on the other two models, which makes sense since Arcooda says the Pro is "Kinect 2.0 Ready (install inside headbox)", while the other two say "Kinect 2.0 Ready (add to top headbox)". I tried to learn about Kinect last night, and immediately got confused by the BAM aspect.

Thank you for providing those summary points. I am 98% of the way to committing to the Ultra, but am bogged down on a few tech issues. I think Kinect does not have to be one of those issues: Buy the comparatively inexpensive camera and learn about it, or don't.

Heads up - hardware purchase requires international wire transfer

Just a heads up for potential US purchasers of an Arcooda cabinet. Their updated ordering info went up over the weekend (https://www.arcoodapinball.com/), but you still need to submit an inquiry via e-mail or their web form. I submitted an inquiry shortly after their webpage was revised and received their response this morning. Although the software can be purchased by credit card, ordering the hardware involves giving them a deposit ($1500). That deposit has to be sent via wire transfer to their bank (HSBC Hong Kong). Beware of possible delays on such a transfer. I’ve never done an international wire transfer and am researching it now (Xoom, MoneyGram, your own bank, etc.).

From their Facebook page regarding tradeoffs between the $499 software and the hardware purchases ($1500 deposit now, delivery October, or purchase after June 30 2018 but before June 30 2019 AND buy the $499 software now):

The purchase of the $499usd will be credited to any Arcooda Pinball cabinet purchase (as long as you order an Arcooda Pinball before June 30th 2019). No need to pay $1500usd to get this deal. You MUST purchase the software however before 30th June 2018 as the license expires.

However, if you do purchase an Arcooda Pinball now, we will pay for the transport from China to Australia, or USA and hopefully to one central logistic centre in Europe for easy/freight savings, together with an additional game Timeshock Arcade Edition.


Not getting Timeshock isn’t a big deal to me, but I am guessing that the free transport to Chicago or Los Angeles (they’ve evidently added LA as an end point in addition to Elk Grove Village just outside of Chicago) would be a big cost savings for those buying the lowest cost cabinet that is made overseas. Presumably the Ultra and Standard editions, if they will be manufactured in Chicago, will not have a transport cost except from Chicago to their final US destination. BTW that final transportation cost is unknown at the moment.

There is also a thread on one of their Facebook posts about running 3rd party software on their cabinets and whether such usage might require waiver of the warranty (note that hardware mods, over clocking, etc. justifiably should void the warranty). I am waiting on their answer as to whether their Highway I/O board gives customer add-on computing hardware (PC, console, RPI, etc.) access to all three monitors or to just the main backglass monitor.

Just a heads up and we'll go more into this when we record our next podcast with special guest Gregg, who does Spacies Arcade videos, but I got word from Arcooda and want to make this perfectly clear:

If you want the full Arcooda cabinet experience, you'll need to either buy the cabinet before the 30th (where it comes with the stand alone version) or at the very least purchase the $500 Arcooda Pinball Arcade for your later Arcooda cabinet purchase. Owning the Steam unlock key WILL NOT give you access to full cabinet function if you purchase cab later. You cannot transfer your key into the stand alone version, as each pack is a separate license that Arcooda pays FarSight for.

I wanted to make sure everyone realizes this before the 30th, as by the time we record that podcast it will be too late.
