Harley Davidson is an unknown quantity to me, and I'd prefer to see something else instead of Gorgar (although it is decent enough in a masochistic, Black Hole type of way). But everything else is as much as we can expect untill we possibly get some bigger licenses. With this schedule we'd have at least 5 out of the top 10 of ipdb, 8 out of the top 20. And personally I can't wait for Taxi....Maybe we've played it to death on PHOF, but there is a reason we did!

I hope you are wrong, I believe to expand sales to people other than current pinball fans they need licence/movie tables. Unfortunate as it is I think zen is about to gain more distance over TPA with the upcoming avengers tables, if FS had 1 big modern movie table release it could go a long way to boosting sales.
Actually, I think FarSight is doing it right. Get the great unlicensed 90s tables out first (Theatre of Magic, Medieval Madness, Cirqus Voltaire, Monster Bash, etc.) along with some easier-to-acquire licensed tables (Ripley's, maybe Elvira's tables or Tales from the Crypt) and some classics (Bride of Pinbot, the Williams Collection tables), to build up a revenue stream. Then go after the licensed properties after you have the means to pay for them. Besides, the license holders may want to see evidence that TPA is a viable game and will bring in money before they enter into any agreement, and I don't know that TPA has been around long enough yet to establish that track record.

...or put them in a hole that they may have trouble digging themselves out of. Trying to release a modern big movie licensed table is very high risk and very costly for FarSight this early in The Pinball Arcade's existence. I think they'll be fine this first year with the DLC they have lined up. Plus Twilight Z...whoops. :)
Indeed. If it takes 24 unlicensed/minor-licensed tables before FarSight feels comfortable pursuing the big licenses, I'd rather have that than FS betting the farm prematurely on a high-dollar licensed table.

As for TZ: Don't be such a tease... ;)

I assumed Harley Davidson was some kind of running joke. Poor table, even for Stern, and I'd expect the song licenses alone would make it not worth the trouble. Not that I won't buy it if it happens, but it wouldn't rank anywhere in the first few hundred slots on my personal wish list.

IMO (which doesn't mean squat, but whatever), there's a bunch of other unlicensed tables they could go for that'd probably have more appeal. Stuff like Whirwind, Junkyard, and High Speed come to mind. Of the ones listed above, I don't think I have a whole lot of fond memories of. I'm willing to spend some money to support them, but I think we all know not everyone is as willing to part with their money in hopes of getting better tables later on.

As far as a cheaper newer licensed Stern table goes, I'd rather have Monopoly. May not be as "cool" a theme as Harley but its certainly a better table. Heck, Roller Coaster Tycoon is better than Harley Davidson.

Who's to say Monopoly isn't coming as well at some point. The fact that FarSight already had a Harley Davidson 3rd Edition pinball machine on site played heavily into their decision to recreate it as one of their first Stern tables.

Monster Bash is licensed. It has the Universal monsters. Same deal with Creature from the Black Lagoon. So Farsight already has a couple licensed tables confirmed.

Monopoly is one I would like to see as well. I tried it in VP and it seems to be fun. I would like to play a real table. Farsight hinted that they have some surprises with the Stern license, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had something else lined up.

D'oh! I stand corrected. I keep forgetting that MB is based on the Universal version of those monsters, and not the original source material (which for at least Frank and Drac is public domain).

My guess would be FarSight wanting to throw in another Stern table or two for this year with licenses that would be the easiest (and possibly cheapest) to aquire like Ripley's.

Don't forget - Stern's earliest tables, such as Sharkey's Shootout, High Roller Casino, and Striker Xtreme, didn't have outside licenses. While I've never played the former two, Striker X is a pretty good table, and would love to see it in TPA.

Yes, it would be nice to see these Stern tables as well. We'll see which other Stern tables FarSight decides to release this year.

Zen established itself first, releasing over a dozen non-licensed tables before producing the Marvel tables. Farsight would be smart to do the same thing. Also consider how the two companies are aiming for two different audiences. Farsight is going after pinball enthusiasts, while Zen is courting a much more casual crowd, whose attitude reflects a professional reviewer I read years ago. He gave Pro-Pinball : Big Race U.S.A. a bad score because it "didn't do anything you wouldn't see on a real machine." He went on to say that "computer pinball games need to do things a real machine can't." People who want the Green Goblin Flying around, while Doctor Octopus walks across the playfield, will go to Zen. Those seeking a more authentic experience will go to Farsight.

Sharkey's Shootout has a real pool player, Jeanette Lee, featured on it, though. I hope they go for Bally's World Cup Soccer 94 over Striker Xtreme. The former has a license, but it's an excellent table. I haven't played Striker Xtreme, but I heard mixed things. I know Stern also has an unlicensed variant of Nascar called Grand Prix as well.

I hope for some surprises. Farsight mentioned that No Good Gofers isn't as far off as Tee'd Off, so that one may be possible. That would probably go well with Dr. Dude. There's also the coming soon sign that suggests a pool themed game. I'm hoping Gorgar will get paired with Bally's Centaur, though the latter hasn't been announced.

Which is saying something!

24, CSI, Rolling Stones, Wheel of Fortune, NASCAR, Shrek, WPT, NBA. What a bunch of winners...

Hate to say it -- I really do -- but if (if!) they did bundle Harley with Taxi, I probably wouldn't buy it.

It's not about the money -- these tables are dirt cheap and a total bargain -- it's more the fact that I simply wouldn't play these tables, particularly Harley. And as much as I like to support FarSight and Zen, I also don't want to give them the impression that I'll buy anything. (For this reason, I'm no longer going to buy any Marvel packs from Zen.)

Give me a METEOR or Silverball Mania or Fathom or even Space Invaders over something like Harley, any day.

I'd like to see Monopoly though.

What we need is a version of White Water! I'll take that over many if the licenced tables any day.
