Figured it would be good if people, as and when they discover a useful app, post up and share.

Always good to swap notes on this, as generally some of the really great apps pass us by.

---

I'll start the ball rolling with this one I've just come across.

GMD hide soft keys * Root (Root is Required) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys
This hides the Navbar for Nexus devices freeing up screen real estate. I've been using full!screen+ to do the same job, but it has stopped working with various apps (Zen mainly) and despite emailing the dev, he says there is nothing he can/will do. So this acts as an even better replacement IMO.

Also...

Auto Screen On by Dougi Hsu (No Root Required) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.omd.autoscreenon
This I've been using for a while - it basically wakes the device either by you waving your hand near the proximity sensor, or by shaking the gyros.
As my phone sits on my work desk, streaming music, this saves me wearing out the power button with the 100 wakes a day I probably do when I should be working.

I've mentioned the app "ultimate rotation control" Before. It let's you force rotate screen so you can hold your device upside down or any way sideways. Useful if you have problems accidentally hitting back button or want charger cable sticking out the other side or maybe some other reason. Works great but just beware not to accidentally tilt your device over to different view mid-game, as this usually craches pinball arcade (I use force auto). Just make sure you flip your device into preferred view before starting a table, and you can also roll down the device curtain/window and choose to lock current screen setting. In general you also have per app settings, so you can set up each app you have how you choose.

This app has had my attention for a couple of weeks now...
'Zooper widget pro' https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zooper.zwpro
or 'Zooper widget free' https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zooper.zwfree

You can create pretty much any widget you wish in any graphical format you can imagine, with access to any device info desired, and then assign launch activities to different parts of your widget (ie pressing the clock, launches android alarm app - or touching an interactive weather symbol launches BBC weather app.
You can also write conditional macros for advanced functions like...
[c]$#BLEVN#>80?#ff00ff00$$#BLEVN#>20&&#BLEVN#<81?#ffff9d00$$#BLEVN#<21?#ffff0000$[/c] = controls the colour of the battery symbol so if above 80% its green, 20-80% orange, less than 20% red.
Limitless possibilities.
Some of the widgets I've knocked up so far are...

Haunted House (check out the LCD ghosting effect) - Has a launch for TPA when you press the HH logo.

Progress Bars translucent widget. (inc sunrise/sunset, moonphase, active weather, launch links for alarm, calendar, weather

My Antique Time recorder (clock in/out)

This was done by removing the hands off my clock, take a pic, and recreate the hands digitally.

There's also several really great Google+ communities here...

Another app which was essential in the creation of the above imagery is...
'Picsart photo studio'
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.picsart.studio
I'm quite into tweaking my pics I take, and having tried a lot of Android photo editing software, this is my preferred app.

Another app I can recommend is "screen filter". I've been using it for a long time and it works great. You can set the screen brightness darker than your devices default lowest setting. Very good slider function makes very precise settings possible. I don't use when playing PA but have it activated right now as I'm lying in bed and the room is dark so the screen brightness doesn't blind me, I find the regular lowest screen brightness a little too bright. And my girlfriend won't be bothered with a bright screen. Also good for saving battery life and for using phone at the movies if needed, without risk of disturbing people around you. I'm sure there are other situations when it can be useful. It's free and ad free.
