Is Season 4 worth getting?

I like my pinball (use PS3). I currently have seasons 1 to 3, but have been balking for a bit over Season 4. It is only $30, so it shouldn't be that hard to jump, but I keep getting second thoughts. I looked over the tables and noticed I don't play the Season 3 tables much at all. I like tables like Big Shot, Champions Pub, Attack from Mars, Medieval Madness, Cactus Canyon.

What is the general consensus of Season 4? A couple great tables, some really good tables, enough that warrant buying the season?

Definitely worth it. 4 revolutionary tables, and the others are cool. people bag on the Phantom and Starship Troopers, but they are fun to play.

Season 4 is probably better than Season 3, overall.

S3 was great at the beginning (Fish Tales, BR, BK2K) and had a solid end (Diner, BSD), but the middle (WD, HS, JY, LCA, HRC) was so-so.

S4 was weak-ish to start (POTO, PZ, ES, SST) then picked up from then on (TAF, Cyclone, Jack*Bot, Xenon, RS, SC).

Overall the weak spots in S4 aren't as bad as the weak spots in S3.

I'm in almost total agreement. Diner and BSD are probably both in my top five, so I might say S3 had an awesome end.

Edit: Well top five may be too high for Diner but I love it and it's probably in my top 20. I'm actually not sure what my top five is except that Monster Bash is in there, and probably AFM.

To me it is definitely worth it. A pretty good season. But I think every season is worth it.

Very much worth it. I have all five seasons and like all of them, even with just three tables so far for PS3 seasons 5.

I can safely say I play the S4 tables way more than the S3 ones. TAF, RS, and SC are tops, while Starship Troopers and Cyclone are the ones I've barely touched, but everything else gets rotation play. There's something about the S3 tables that just never call to me, despite my actually "liking" many of the tables.

IMHO, s4 might not be the best season, but still great and well worth it. Especially at $30. And very much so if you haven't bought any of the s4 tables yet. Roadshow and Addams are must haves. Jack*bot is awesome. That's normally like $15 just for the three. So for another $15 you get the rest. Some of those are pretty fun and you can go back playing them now and then, and some might not be the ones you go back playing but still great fun for a while. And at $30 for all of them including pro mode, IMHO it's a no brainer.

For S4, I'm higher on PZ than most - but it's difficult to ignore the artwork, call-outs, and music on that table, so it's easy to see why it's not so well loved. Having said that, I really don't like SC.

Next year, probably. Farsight have consistently not put on sale the current season or the prior one. Last year for instance when we were mid-S4, only seasons 1 and 2 went on sale, not S3.

Yeah, Fish Tales is one of the few TPA tables that feels as difficult as I remember the real table being. It can be brutal at times, but probably feels the most like real pinball of anything in the game.

Right. I've been watching out for it, and this was the first time Season 3 ever went on sale. Don't expect a sale on 4 until halfway through 6.

Overall I like S3 more than S4. Black Rose, Diner, Fish Tales, High Roller Casino, High Speed, Black Knight 2000, BSD, WHO dunnite are all great tables in the season. JY and LAH is ok though warming up to JY. Loved the fact that it was on sale for %50.

The only tables that seem worth it in S4 are Road Show, Adams Family and Earthshaker. ST is Ok and Jack*Bot completes the trilogy so... I was hoping for a discount this year but oh well. Still holding on for the sale but likely won't see it till summer next year. Should pick it up though as I would like to participate some of the tournaments and they always include at least 1 table per the first 4 seasons.

I did one of those 20 minute timed per table tournaments did fairly well on most of the tables that I own but some of them i didn't have. Could have been top 10 I think when all said and done. Might just go ahead and get season 4 just for those timed tournaments. Hate the longer ones because it is so easy to get Extra Balls in many of the tables.

Top seasons so far

Season 5 - All tables so far are fantastic not a bad table in the bunch from what I've tried/demoed.

Season 1 - Just for the amount of tables you get NGG Monster Bash, Medieval Madness, Attack from Mars STNG, TZ, SS, ETPM, FH, Taxi, are all tops

season 3 - as mentioned BR, Diner, BSD, FT, HS, HRC, Who DUNNIT, BK2k best of the season 8 out of the 10 isn't bad

season 2 -close tobeing #3 with tables like Centaur CC, WW, SS, F2k, T2 kind of salvaged it IMO. Loved the fact that I can play the tables I really played back in the day like Space Shuttle and Firepower before the tables starting costing $.50 $1 to play

season 4 - as mentioned 3 stand out. RS, TAF, and ES and that's pretty much it.

IMO, season 4 is more consistently good table for table than season 3.

Right now, if you told me I could only buy 2 seasons, it would be 1 and 4.

The only season not worth paying $30 for is season 2. It's worth $15, though. White Water! Season 4 is really good but so far Season 5 is besting it. But you're getting Addams Family, Jackbot, Cyclone, Earthshaker and Road Show as well as the very unique Safe Cracker. Those are all great, the others are more to taste. Heavy on the Lawlor, which is a plus in my book.

Honestly, Addams Family and Road Show are both in my Top 10 for TPA tables if that helps. Peak Lawlor.
