Perhaps there were technical and other issues that could have been better addressed, but the fact that there was a live stream at all says something about the progress being made in promoting competitive pinball.

And welcome to the forums, Bowen! Throw in a "me too!" for the usefulness and enjoyability of the PAPA videos; they've dramatically shortened my learning curve on some of the machines covered.

I watched way too much of the coverage. The commentary was very helpful on tables I'm not too familiar with. And as an accountant I'm totally impressed with Bowen's crazy math skills. How's that for geek?

I feel that for a first attempt, it was quite good, and we've heard from people who watched the entire thing and had a great time. There's always improvements to make, and the next time will be significantly more impressive.

I would slink away from this thread if I wasn't pretty confident that my previous comments properly conveyed my respect and appreciation for the work that you, Chase Nunes, and everyone at PAPA did to make last week one for the books. You guys are heroes. And my angle in general around here is much more cheerleader than nit-picker; I mostly gush. But some things are worth improving, and are hugely deserving of a greater audience, and in such cases I say “call 'em like you see 'em.”

And by the way thank you Pin-god, for deigning to address me at all. Holy crap really! And best of luck cracking pinball huge!!

I'm just over three hours in watching the archived footage. Bowen did a great job with the commentary and keeping things entertaining during the down time in between matches. Quite honestly pretty much everyone whose gotten a hold of a head set so far has had interesting things to say. Good job guys.

The toughest part for us was that Chase Nunes, who was responsible for all the awesome graphics, wipes, camera changes, basically all the things that make it feel like a real broadcast, qualified in C Division. And then he would not stop winning. He won C Division and $1500 cash, then immediately came back to the booth for the A Division finals.

If you want a clearer measure of the quality we were after for this attempt, look at the Circuit Final on Thursday or look at the A Div final on Sunday. The rest is still pretty good but we were unable to do the things that Chase is expert at (besides pinball playing). I agree there are a lot of ways to keep improving; you'll see the same levels of improvement when comparing one of PAPA's first tutorials (in 2011) to the more recent ones in 2012 and 2013.

Thanks!
- Bowen

I always want nitpicks. How else can you improve things? If all the answers were "it's perfect, don't do anything" the quality can only go down. And that's never good.

We think you'll be happy with some ideas that are coming down the line from PAPA; regardless, it's all about the growth and outreach of pinball as a game and as a sport. Thanks!

THE PIN GOD HAS SPOKEN... ahem, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Working my way through the archived stuff, I'm thouroughly enjoying that italian player on the Demolition Man table. That's an epic preformance. You can tell the crowd's digging it too.

I loved watching the broadcast.
Small technical hiccups always happens live so no worries there.
There was a few problems with the white level on the camera when changing view from one machine to another but that is also understandable.
I am truly impressed that Bowen found the time to do the commentary for almost the whole thing. Made it almost impossible to take breaks from watching :)

Your knowledge of pinball is second to none Sir. I Only wish you were not restricted from playing yourself. It would have been fun to watch you and Keith Elwin go head to head in the finals.

Thanks for dropping by this forum and please do not be a stranger ;-) I Will try to support your kickstarter with what I can when it goes live

Hello Bowen,

I just want to say that I went to the papa facility on Saturday and I had a great time being there. This was my first time being at a tournament, I wasn't a competitor, I went there to spectate, socialize with other pinball people, and of course to play a lot of pinball. After having this great experience all I can say is that I will definitely be joining a tournament in my hometown for the Summer.

I couldn't make it there for the finals on Sunday, but I did catch the live-stream and did enjoy watching it with your commentary despite some of the issues the stream had. I think you guys are doing an awesome job at promoting pinball and all I can tell you is to keep up the great effort.

Sincerely,
Edan Grossman

Welcome Bowen! I've watched nearly every tutorial you guys have put out and was able to catch most of the final on sunday. Technical difficulties or not, where else would we find live pinball to watch?!?

Great, great stuff, cant wait for the next tourney :)

pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

since *you* brought it up, have you played an updated WOZ yet?

i played one on Sunday and was a bit disappointed that all the updates Jack had put up on Facebook about the rules and all weren't in there yet. everyone raved on about how it is as pretty as a Christmas tree, but one by one they all drifted away to play on nearby games like The Shadow and ACDC and Flintstones ....

loving your work on the tutorials, i'm always checking back to see if a new one is out :)

Wow, Bowen on our little forums. Awesome!

Must say the commentary does make up 50% of the broadcast to me, its really interesting hearing what the players are doing and what shots are the most lucrative.

And Mr. Acciari won too. Remarkable, because as Bowen mentioned the guy isn't particularly skilled at post/tap passes, so he had to be extra good at his other skills I guess.
It was funny how several players played a bare Frankenstein Multiball, rather than stacking it with at least one other monster. Maybe these guys need to practice with TPA more often. :p

did you select the 'past broadcasts' tab? Here's the direct link. I still see footage there. Hours of it.
http://de.twitch.tv/geekgamertv/videos?kind=past_broadcasts
Or did they shoot even more??

They're two videos labeled Geek Gamer TV Live at PAPA Pinball. The first is almost 90 hours of Minecraft talk (incorrectly labeled as PAPA Pinball) and the second is a little under four hours from the circuit finals which is not all of the video from Thursday's event. I want the nine hours they did on Sunday, the Pinburgh finals. I guess I'll have to wait till pinball.org uploads them.

Yeah but that one game on Demo Man though huh? Kudos to Mr. Acciari for putting on a show to remember.
